We spent 2 nights at Atlas Berber Lodge and absolutely enjoyed our stay. From the moment we arrived, it felt much more like staying with a family. Mohammed and Ibrahim were incredibly kind and helpful. Mohammed speaks excellent English and French, while communication with Ibrahim was easily managed in French and with a little help from ChatGPT. Our room was comfortable, but the highlight was definitely the terrace with its breathtaking views over the Atlas Mountains. Sitting there in the evening was simply wonderful. The breakfast is included and was very good (eggs, breads, amlou, honey, jams), and we especially loved the homemade chicken and vegetable tagine for lunch - delicious, filling and easily enough for two (lunch with desert cost us 200 MAD). It was also convenient, as good restaurant options in Imlil are rather limited. If you are not a practicing muslim and a light sleeper: bring ear plugs as a call for prayer at 4:45 am is very audible and may wake you up. If you are travelling without a car: grand taxis from Marrakech stop at the parking area in Imlil, about a 30 min uphill walk from the lodge. With luggage, we strongly recommend arranging a pick-up with the lodge in advance or taking a local taxi from the parking area. On our way back, the lodge generously arranged a taxi for us free of charge.

A couple of things could be improved. The water pressure in the shower and sink was very weak, making washing in the morning rather difficult. Also, eating breakfast on the terrace can be challenging because the honey and jam attract lots of bees and wasps. This is understandable given the nearby beekeepers and famous Atlas honey, but insect-repellent fans or window screens might help. Overall, a lovely and authentic stay with wonderful hospitality, great food and unforgettable views. We would happily come back.

Very nice views over the Atlas Mountains and the dinner and breakfasts we had were yummy.

The staff were not very helpful and often no one was around for us to ask questions, I wanted to go on a full day hike and the owner said we could plan it with a guide the night before but no one was around and it had to be planned last minute in the morning and was only 4 hours. The lounging areas were also not laid out for us (cushions etc). They did arrange our taxis which was useful However it was a long and dark walk back up from town - about 30 minute in the dark which didn’t feel safe.
