I had a fantastic stay at The Barn in Durham. It’s a fabulous cottage in an amazing location — really easy to get to Sunderland, Durham, and Newcastle, which made getting around completely stress-free.
Wendy was absolutely amazing — she genuinely couldn’t do more to help and made everything feel very easy and welcoming from the start.
The cottage itself was exactly what you want: bright, spacious, spotlessly clean, and very homely. It had everything I needed and matched expectations perfectly.
The kitchen was also fantastically well stocked with everything you need for cooking and cleaning — it genuinely felt just like being at home.
I’d happily stay again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere comfortable and well-located in the area.

What a wonderful accomodation. The host Wendy is very helpful and there for your every need. We went for a family birthday and had all the relatives come visit The Barn for dinner and celebrations. Wendy supplied us with extra chairs to accomodate us. The location means you need a vehicle but we loved being at the edge of the fields, watching the horses come out daily and on bonfire night you could see fireworks accross the whole vista, it was amazing.
Everything you need is at the barn from a whole functioning kitchen, with washing maching and diswasher amongst the white goods. Then you have all the kitchen applicances and crockery so you can live and eat comfortably. All the 3 bedrooms were clean and towels and toiletries are also there. One bedroom has an ensuite which was very nice. The whole place is accessible and I had no problems. I loved it here and could have stayed longer!!! I will definitely return. Wendy you are a star.
