Hotel is very clean and staff are accommodating

I want to begin by saying that the staff were absolutely fantastic. I have rarely, if ever, experienced such pleasant, friendly and genuinely helpful service at a hotel. That is what makes this review particularly difficult to write. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel, especially for a longer stay. The hotel may be suitable for a short visit, but only if you are an exceptionally heavy sleeper. It is located directly beside a busy four-lane highway and a petrol station, with a metal workshop and storage facility nearby. On the other side of the hotel, people live immediately beside the hotel wall and keep roosters and dogs. The noise was relentless. The roosters regularly started screaming at around 03:00, and when they eventually stopped, the dogs started barking. Traffic and activity from the petrol station, highway and nearby businesses added to the disturbance. This happened every day throughout our stay. The air-conditioning units were also unbelievably loud. Imagine sitting inside a Boeing 737 as it prepares to accelerate down the runway. That is genuinely what the air conditioner sounded like. I had to wear noise-cancelling headphones throughout the night, every night, just to get a couple of hours of sleep. We changed rooms several times because of the noise, but it did not solve the problem. The soundproofing between rooms was also poor, so noise from neighbouring guests could easily be heard. The result was extremely poor sleep during almost our entire stay. The breakfast was good, although the selection was very limited. This is another reason why the hotel may be more appropriate for a short stay than a longer one. I would recommend trying the chicken tocino with garlic rice. We did not eat dinner at the hotel very often, but the other food we tried was generally just okay. The cleanliness could also be improved considerably. The floors in our room were dirty by our standards, to the point that my wife ended up cleaning the hotel-room floor herself. We also had a significant problem with ants, despite not staying on the ground floor. Our rooms did not have a minibar or refrigerator, which meant that we could not safely store food or snacks. Ants eventually got into some of our food, and we had to throw it away. The upstairs lounge area was not particularly clean either. It had hard plastic furniture without cushions, which made it uncomfortable and uninviting. It is genuinely a shame because the staff were so kind and pleasant to us. They were easily the best part of the hotel and deserve recognition for their excellent service. However, friendly staff cannot compensate for the constant noise, lack of sleep, cleanliness issues, ants, poor soundproofing and lack of basic room facilities. I feel bad writing this because the staff treated us so well, but I have to be honest: I would not stay here again, and I cannot recommend it to others.
