From the moment you arrive you are taken care of. Hosts are superb. Even helped me with medicine for my cold I got in Ella. Pool great. Food great. Room so lovely. Breakfast so good. Safari trip I did with a couple only 3 hrs ideal time. Sad to have to leave 10/10. Will return one day hopefully. E.

Five stars is not enough to describe the excellence of the experience at Amba Kola. This is the amazing place all travelers are looking for, the perfect balance of hospitality, culture and a comfort.
Janik, the owner of this humble little paradise is the kindest, most connected and magical people I have met in my Sri Lanka travels. He and his team go to no limit to make sure their guests feel welcome, comfortable and have any and all needs met. They exceeded my expectations on every front, from welcome drinks to organizing tours in the park to cooking amazing meals and sharing drinks and food as friends. As a side note, Janik speaks impecable English and was interesting and always present, chatting and making sure every detail was handled to the highest standard.
The actual hotel is quite comfortable with nice beds, high end linens, and beautiful teak furniture. The pool is clean and the rooms are spotless. The decoration is tasteful and the place feels like home. This is certainly the most well attended property I have stayed at in all of Sri Lanka.
The food was incredible and I did a cooking class with the owners mom, Swarna, who has formerly run the most popular restaurant in Ella. The class was fun, engaging, and we made about 9 dishes that were all delicious. Would highly recommend this experience.
The gardens were beautiful, the family and staff were all extremely pleasant and welcoming. It is no wonder this place gets the highest of reviews! Highly recommended, don’t miss it!
