Imperial in Wooa-dong, Jeonju

The taxi dropped us outside but we wandered around trying to find an entrance. A passerby finally pointed us to the right entrance (no English words to identify it from the street. The other entrance was from the under building parking area and that entrance had the name in English but no way to see it from the street). The elderly couple (staff) didn't know us or that we were coming and after we showed them our printed documents, of our reservation info, and studied it and talked about it for quite a while (no English at all) they finally decided to give us a key. The elderly gentleman took us up in the elevator and pointed out the room (nice). The bed was the hardest mattress we have ever slept on. It seemed to be just a sheet of plywood with a linen covering. We tried to thicken it up by putting a couple of comforters (from a roll away that was in the room) to help put some padding on the bed to sleep on. Hand towels but no bath towels in the bathroom. Taking a shower in the tub, with a shower curtain rod but no shower curtain seems to be the norm (in country) which seems short sighted and makes for a wet floor afterwards. We left in the morning by just putting the key on the counter, no person around.

I stayed this hotel two day. Location is perfect for me 3 min walk to 🏪 5 min to busy street. As I don't speak Korean much.I feel little difficult to communicate with stuff but everything is enough for Solo traveler. I am happy to come back again.

This is a dated motel in a nondescript entertainment district of sorts, close to the train station, a big HomePlus, and bus connections, although quite far from the tourist attractions, however. In the general area there are lots of restaurants. The building is actually a copy of a French Gothic castle, with turrets - it may be cool to get a room up in a turret! The room is functional, with a bed with rock hard mattress, good bathroom, large windows, fridge, and TV. Electrical, hot water and wifi were good, and while the AC worked, you couldn't control the temperature. Quiet except for some occasional thudding upstairs. Staff occasionally available - no English spoken. Inconvenient is that there is no closet space to put away your things. People smoke in building and comes through air conditioning.

It had all the necessary amenities. We liked it. Its very vintage kinda hotel.. with old technology!! We really had a comfortable stay. There are no staff other that a lady at the reception. We checked in very late, still it went smooth!!
