Overall good hotel

Booked a room that says “street view”, but they put me in an “inner view” room instead. Asked the staff about it, and showed my booking in Agoda that says it’s street view, but they said I need to pay more if I want a street view. And then when I raised it w/ Agoda CS, they said the hotel said I checked in at 4pm so there was no more room with street view. Mind you, I went there before 4pm, but the hotel was in total blackout, like literally all the lights are off and the no staff at the front desk. I waited for a few minutes when I heard someone speaking, it turns out the staff holding a flashlight was assisting other guests. Gave her my passport and booking, she confirmed it on her laptop but maybe after checking that I indeed have a booking, she said (via translator) that they can only check me in at 4pm because there’s a maintenance ongoing, and she was even saying it was a special case that day, which I know is true because I went to the hotel a day prior to leave my luggage. The Good: The hotel staff was kind enough to let me store my luggage a day before my official check-in, which I highly appreciated. The Bad: I booked a Street View room but was placed in an Inner View room instead. When I brought this up with the front desk and showed my Agoda booking, they claimed I had to pay extra if I wanted the street view. Later, when I escalated the issue to Agoda Customer Service, the hotel claimed I was downgraded because I checked in late (at 4:00 PM) and they ran out of rooms. This is completely unfair and dishonest. I actually arrived well before 4:00 PM, but the hotel was undergoing a total blackout and maintenance. The staff explicitly told me they could not accommodate check-ins until 4:00 PM. I was highly understanding of their power situation, went out, and returned exactly at 4:00 PM as requested. To blame me for a check-in time they mandated due to their own power outage is unacceptable. Furthermore, because the staff offered me the street view room in person if I paid more money, it proves they had the rooms available and simply chose not to honor my original booking. On top of that, no compensation or late checkout was offered for the massive inconvenience of the blackout. Very poorly handled.

The hotel is situated around Nanjing Road. They also provide free water and towels. The cleaners also clean the rooms after you leave.
