Casa Tranquila Epic Mountain and Golf Course Views

Nice house on the edge of golf course with unimpeded views of nearby mountains. Good location near major freeways but in a quiet gated community. The house is a little less grand than the photos suggest, but is well-furnished.

Hosts refused to give arrival instructions until the morning of check-in, as if fearing I would sneak in a night earlier. When they did give the instructions, they forgot to say which gate to use to enter the community (which was different from what my car’s Navigation told me). A fair price for this house would be about $400-450 per night, cleaning included. (I paid about $600.) That’s my professional opinion as owner of a 5-star resort in Asia, Plantation Bay, a Real Resort with a Real Spa. The owners or managers of Casa Tranquila should not aim to squeeze higher prices for faraway dates, then lower the price drastically as vacant dates approach. It is unfair in terms of reviews that might be based on cheap last-minute bookings. By the way, booking.com should report the price paid in relation to every review, otherwise the reviews are really not helpful. A hotel room might be a 10/10 at $100, but 5/10 at $200.

I am a professional hotelier and frequent traveler, owner of a 5-star resort in Asia, Plantation Bay, a Real Resort with a Real Spa. So I am a good judge of value. This is a nice-enough house, on the edge of a gated community, with good views and a nice pool. It’s not as grand as the photos suggest, but nice enough. The location within Indio is reasonably central. The kitchen is fully-equipped.

Host attitude is deficient. They refused to give me arrival instructions, as if afraid I would sneak in a few hours early. When they did give me instructions, they were incomplete (not the gate that the Nav system will direct you to, but one about a mile away). At about $400-500 a night, cleaning included, this is an 8. (I paid $600+). The price was higher 3 months in advance, then dropped abruptly as unbooked dates approached. Hosts should realize they lose customer trust doing this, and prospective bookers should realize that at $300 the property would get a lot rave reviews, that would not apply if the price is any higher.

Beautiful home with many amenities. The hot tub with the incredible view was the best part! My family and I enjoyed our stay very much. We were so comfortable!
