The highlight of staying in Umbria!

Relais Casale Valigi was a true gem! A rare find, this incredible villa’s artistic expression stood out by blending modern minimalism and rustic charm. A unique design concept that was simple and elegant. In every way, attention to detail was evident: a fresh bundle of herbs wrapped at the bathroom sink, spelt chaf filled pillows, and antique linen bedcovers. I wanted to roll it all up and take the entire place home with me! But, not only was it pleasing to the eye and senses, Francesco was a top-notch host. We had trouble with transportation leaving Rome, and Francesco organized a rental car in the nearby town for us within minutes of my inquiry and continued to offer assistance along the way. When we met him in the morning, we had a lovely chat about the history of his land and olive oil production, the early beginnings of his villa and all the hard work it took him to get to its current state of splendour. The breakfasts were amazing and the staff that has been with him for a decade doted on us with omelettes made to order and fresh cappuccinos until we were content. Francesco gave us a detailed 2 day itinerary to explore the area and restaurant recommendations in each place which we followed and immensely enjoyed! We will definitely be returning and also checking out Francesco’s new villa nearby when it opens!

A Hidden Paradise

Location.. Absolutely stunning! Beautiful views, tranquil, peaceful, and relaxing. The gardens, olive trees, pool area, all stunning, as is the property, and all spotlessly clean. Fruits from the gardens for breakfast along with locally sourced produce and homemade breads and jams. All the staff are amazing, always smiling and happy to help in any way possible. Quite possibly the most relaxing, comfortable, and tranquil 3 night stay we've ever had. Thank you!

Our only quibble, and I must emphasise, this takes nothing away from Casale Valigi's location, its quality, or the staff. However, being a little older and in need of a little more time to recoop between excursions etc, we need to take time out, stay by the pool for an afternoon, or just sit out of an evening and enjoy a small bite to eat and a drink, etc.. Not having easy access to foods and drinks throughout the day / evening was a real challenge, especially with daily temperatures hoverering around 33°. Having outdoor furniture by our room and a fridge are an absolute must for us for multiple reasons. I also have essential medication that requires constant, cold storage, and I always check that these are available/included prior to making a booking. Had these been as indicated, our review and stay would have moved from amazing to completely acceptional across the board. Francesco was super helpful and immediately moved medication to the main kitchen fridge when it became apparent the mini fridge supplied simply wasn't cold enough.

A peaceful mini-retreat in the Umbrian countryside

Beautiful property and lovely hosts, ready to help if you need it. Stunning location, extremely picturesque and quiet and very stylishly presented with its minimalist decor. I really liked the bathroom products (Erbario Toscano - a fave of mine, I wish you could get in the UK!). Breakfast is also perfect, lots of choice (healthy and unhealthy!) and there is an honesty bar for you to help yourself to coffees, teas, snacks etc.

You have to drive if you want to go out for dinner or see any sights. Narni town centre is a short drive away but not easily walkable - especially in the heat. It would be amazing if there was a shuttle service to Narni, perhaps limited to certain days/times on advance request only BUT this is a family-run property and for the price you pay, not something I would expect to see.

We check out of this world during our stay.

Upon arriving we “checked-out of this world”. We felt fully detached from everything during our stay. High quality breakfast and Francesco amazingly took care of our additional food requests. The location is superb with scenic views in all directions. The pool is cooling as it is filled with salt water. Overall a perfectionist is at work with great attention to detail yet creating a relaxed atmosphere.

The only suggestion would be to explore options for lunch as only breakfast is offered and hence guests are compelled to leave the property for lunch and dinner.

Everything at that place is done with a lot of LOVE. The owner has put a lot of thinking in the design and small details. It’s a betas on the pictures. The food was amazing too. Breakfast was good with homemade marmalade. Just in love with this place.

Beautiful and relaxing contemporary style stay near Narni

The property is beutifully furnished in contemporary art style. Very relaxing atmosphere. Very good location really close to Narni. The Rooms are very big, like an apartment size with 2 toilets. We stayed in a two floor room. Good value for money. The owners are really king and nice people. The garden is beautiful and well kept as well and the swimming pool. There is a beautiful view of Narni from the garden. The breakfast is quite good and varied.

No restaurant available at the premise. The place has got a relaxing jet a bit sterile/ cold atmosphere.

It was the second time that I’ve visited Casale Valigi and it actually feels like coming home. First time I fell in love with the place, the surrounding, the delicious food and the people. Second time didn’t disappoint. Wonderfull place if you’re looking for some peace and quiet.

We can only give our highest recommendation to this beautiful place , everything was perfect from the arrival to the checkout - so well done by Franchesco and his team . Beautiful farmhouse with 6 newly renovated rooms , with great attention to details and traditions but but a super cool and nice modern design. Located on a large piece of land with a beautiful view over Narni , the valley , olive trees , the pool and the garden. We will definitely visit again and enjoy the hospitality and tranquility.

The ideal place to explore Umbria at your own (slow) pace. Wonderful location and property.

This is truly an exceptional place and host. The casale is completely renovated old farm, restored with luxurious and beautiful details. It's surrounding is even more beautiful, situated on top of a valley with a lake, olive trees & vineyards surrounding the property & pool area. It's a great place to relax and enjoy the pool but also to do excursions to Umbria's mediaval towns. Francesco is a lovely host that is always ready to help & a great cook.

Best I ever been in Italy!

We’ve spent our summer holiday in Italy for almost 25 years and this place was by far the best we’ve ever been. It’ s beautiful in different ways: the view on the ancient city of Narni when you enjoy your breakfast or relax at the swimming pool is marvelous, The accomodation is a ancient farm that has been restored with great taste. It was very warm on our stay but because the building is situated on a hill there is a refreshing wind and the airo inside works perfect. Francesco the owner is the one that makes the difference,He gave us the feeling of being home. He helped me to rent a Vespa, took me to a local winery and even to his own place in Terni. We had the pleasure to be at Casale for 10 Days and we got connected to him. I noticed we share the same values like being respectfull, being close to nature and enjoying quality food with a good glass of wine. if you search these values you definitely have to you to Casale Valigi!.

Our daughter and his boyfriend will also go to this beautiful place this month on our advice and I’m jealous that I can’t join them but surely will return next year.

✅ Bellissima esperienza! Tenuta a poca distanza da Narni, immersa nel verde e con un paesaggio molto bello. Intorno il silenzio assoluto. La struttura è moderna, elegante ma preserva lo stile dei vecchi casali. Intorno, oltre la piscina, una distesa di verde tenuta benissimo. La piscina è appena fuori dalla struttura. Ampia disponibilità di sdraio/lettini all’esterno. L’edificio è molto accogliente e tenuto benissimo. Completano il tutto un paio di depandance con altre stanze (8 in tutto). La stanza (doppia superior) confortevole e con tutto il necessario. Una menzione per la comodità del letto e dei cuscini. Bagno con doccia ampia. Riscaldamento regolabile. Finestre con zanzariere. Colazione ricca di prodotti naturali, sia salato che dolce. Omelette disponibile. Servizio cortese e gentile. Sala colazione molto intima e piacevole. Francesco è stato host molto gentile, ci ha accolto con un buon caffè e diverse indicazioni per le cose da vedere intorno. Lista ristoranti esaustiva. Sempre disponibile per qualsiasi necessità. Quello che fa la differenza per un soggiorno piacevole. Torneremo presto!

De ongelofelijke gastvrijheid van de host Francesco. Geen vraag was hem te veel. En dat op een toplocatie in Umbrië, dichtbij het mooie stadje Narni. Ook het personeel aan het ontbijt was erg vriendelijk. Topadresje!

Tutto MERAVIGLIOSO! Casale incantevole, curato nei minimi dettagli e pulitissimo. Si respira un’aria di pace e di benessere incredibile, io ed il mio compagno ce ne siamo innamorati e abbiamo già stabilito che ci torneremo non appena ne avremo l’opportunità perché davvero è un’oasi di pace. Un mondo a parte, dove stacchi completamente la spina e ti rigeneri. Francesco, il proprietario, è gentilissimo e disponibilissimo, ci ha dato qualche consiglio su cosa visitare nei dintorni e grazie a lui abbiamo visto dei posticini poco distanti da lì che davvero meritano! Colazione top, con prodotti sempre freschissimi del giorno.
