Rose Cottage Romantic Cottage in Wildlife

Wild animals everywhere, giraffe, hippo etc on the front lawn. Amazing site. Went with a 5yr old and 10month old and was perfect family friendly. Absolutely African Dream.

Flooring is all stone throughout which is fine, just do mindful planning if bringing younger children/crawling/new to walking.

Sanctuary Farm was one of our favourite stays in Kenya. This small private sanctuary is full of zebras, antelopes, horses and wildebeest that freely roam around. Imagine sitting on your private terrace and reading a book, while these animals are grazing peacefully nearby. Actually, our first experience upon arrival was having lunch at the restaurant while zebras were walking between the tables, such a unique experience! We stayed in the Rose Cottage which is a comfortable, private place that's great for 2 persons. From here you can walk to the lake, where boats depart (extra charge) to Crescent Island, which is also highly recommended to visit. Sanctuary Farm was the perfect base for us, for all our activities around Lake Navaisha. The communication before booking was excellent, they answered all my questions quickly, friendly and with lots of patience. Daily housekeeping and the service at the restaurant were also excellent. We had planned on biking in Hell's Gate, but since we already saw so many zebras and antelopes up close just from sitting on the terrace of our cottage and from walking around the sanctuary, that we decided to save on the high entrance fees of that NP. I highly recommend Sanctuary Farm, if there is still something available for your dates then don't hesitate to book! I will remember my amazing stay for the rest of my life.

The only thing we liked a bit less, was that the bedroom and bathroom of the Rose Cottage are 2 separate buildings. And even though they are only located 2 meters from each other, this means you have to go outside at night if you want to use the bathroom. Nothing scary whatsoever, just slight uncomfortable. For us this was only a very small downside and nothing compared to the amazing, unique stay that Sanctuary Farm offers. It's just something that might be good to be aware of before booking.

Beautiful environment with plenty of wildlife around — a very unique experience, and the bed was very comfortable.

Check-in felt a bit rushed. Having to go outside to use the toilet at night, with all the animal sounds around, was quite terrifying. There was also a park fee of 1,000 KES that wasn’t mentioned when we made the booking.
