The Gatehouse

We really enjoyed a lot of things about the property during our three-night stay. The location was fantastic and was really convenient for what we wanted to do during our trip. Having five bedrooms, all with their own en-suites, was a huge bonus and made the property particularly suitable for a larger group, with the additional downstairs toilet being another great feature. The bedrooms were all a really good size, as was the rest of the house, meaning there was plenty of space for everyone to relax without feeling cramped. We also really liked the kitchen and utility area, which were both spacious and well suited to catering for a larger group. The range of entertainment options was another highlight, especially the pool table and outdoor play area, which gave everyone something to enjoy. Having a BBQ available was also a great addition, particularly for enjoying the outdoor space during our stay. There was plenty of parking too, which was really convenient for a large group with multiple cars. Finally, the host was very easy to contact and was helpful and responsive when we had some difficulty finding the key lock boxes. Overall, the property had lots of great features and provided plenty of space and facilities for an enjoyable group stay.

We really enjoyed our three-night stay at the property and there were lots of things we liked about it. However, we did feel that the property could benefit from a little more attention to cleanliness and some general TLC. We felt the property wasn’t quite 100% clean on arrival. There was noticeable dust on top of the headboards, along a lot of the skirting boards and window sills, as well as cobwebs in several areas which looked as though they had been there for some time. There were also a few smaller areas that could have done with some extra attention, such as corners, behind/under furniture and some of the floors. In terms of the property itself, there was quite a bit of visible wear and tear. Some of the kitchen cupboards were marked and worn, the back door was very difficult to close and a number of the walls and skirting boards had marks on them. The garden play area also looked like it could do with some maintenance, as a few parts felt slightly unsafe and would benefit from being repaired. One thing we think would make a big difference for guests staying for a few nights would be providing a mop and hoover. With people coming in and out of the property, particularly with children, the floors inevitably became dirty during our stay. We found ourselves having to keep our shoes on indoors because there wasn’t really a way to clean the floors ourselves other than using the brush, which didn’t satisfy it.

Spacious and conveniently situated. Comfortable beds. Great for a family share.

Some areas were a little tired, but nothing a lick of paint couldn’t fix!

Great location, fabulous attentive host, great for a wide age range, family friendly , good, fun facilities.
