Everything was very clean. The location was perfect as we had some business to do in the neighborhood. Bed was very comfortable.
The check-in process was so impersonal, it really soured the experience.
Right after booking, you’re hit with a web link in your booking.com messages to pay some government fee via Stripe. Then comes a barrage of automated messages with rules and reminders.
You’re required to fill out a bunch of information in a clunky web app... good luck if you’re not tech-savvy.
The most shocking part was the penalty system for not returning the keys before 10:00:
• €200 if you forget
• €30 even if you tell them by 9:00 AM
There’s also a massive Google Drive folder of apartment damages you’re expected to review in case you get blamed for something you didn’t do.
Overall, we felt more like we were being processed than hosted... like part of a machine, not welcomed guests.
The one redeeming thing: the apartment itself was clean and well located.
