We shared this property with another couple for a long weekend, and it was perfect!
First, I must mention that we had constant airline delays/cancellations that threatened to shorten our trip, and our host was AMAZING throughout the entire ordeal...she literally went above and beyond and exceeded our expectations. She was in communication with us until after midnight to ensure we accessed the property safely and successfully.
Now onto the property - it was LOVELY! It was at the end of a private road and backed up to a pond. The living space was beautiful and inviting and had everything we needed for our stay. For evenings in, the furniture was plentiful and comfortable. The second bedroom was located above a garage but it connected to the main house via a short walkway off the kitchen door. It was literally a few feet from the main house, and it was perfect. It had a comfortable king-sized bed, a TV, a desk (which was very useful when my husband had to take a private work call!), and a casual chair. It was the perfect setup for two separate couples, but it would also work great for families with kids because there was no way to access the second bedroom other than through the main house. If you prefer a two-bathroom house, don't rule this one out since it only has one...it is HUGE with double sinks and so much counter and storage space and we had no issues at all sharing with another couple. There was also a lovely front porch to enjoy the cool mornings and evenings.
The property is only a few minutes from the fabulous main street area. There are so many shops and wonderful restaurants that you can easily spend the entire day just browsing and enjoying everything from charcuterie-to-go, coffee, wine/beer, and ice cream! We also drove to Lake Toxaway, Brevard, Asheville, and Lake Lure as the Highlands-Cashiers area is in close proximity to so many other beautiful areas of Western NC.
We are expecting to return to the area in the future and will definitely be booking this property - there's no reason to look elsewhere when you have a perfect property and host!!

Beautiful secluded and spacious cabin located on a lake in Highlands. Excellent communication with owner throughout our stay. Melodie even gave us some awesome recommendations for local places to eat and explore. Very happy with our stay here!

Melodie was a wonderful hostess. She addressed all our needs immediately and gave us great suggestions of where to eat and hike. The house was very clean and kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. I am already planning our next trip. I usually like to try new places but this was such a great experience we will be back by spring!
