Very small room/studio for cheaper price (vs hotel/cabin).
PROs: Price was ~half of Motel 6 (Big Bear Lake) on 4th of July! Three beds. Private toilet, mini fridge. Front door access was easy to use (lock/unlock, open). The neighborhood seemed quite safe.
CONs: Very small - a room/studio attached to house. Path to entrance is dirt and somewhat slippery - walk carefully. Appeared to us that room was used for storage: there were at least 6 mattresses in the room for 3 beds. Very little uncovered floor space (ie. to walk). One member of our group thought they felt bed bugs, however I don't know how actual bed bugs could be confirmed. Bath/shower is outdoors. Microwave power cord (it appeared to us) didn't reach any outlet and thus had to be moved to plug it in. No kitchen or supplies (other than maybe some plastic forks/knives/spoons in a bag). Parking was either a very steep, narrow driveway or on the street with a slope next to it (took 2 of us - 1 driving, 1 guiding on side to park along street). Highway (18) traffic audible through open windows.
DEPENDS: If you don't plan to spend much time in the room - ie. only need place to sleep at night - then this room could be an economical choice. If you like something different than a typical hotel room or cabin and enjoy being creative with space and items, then you might this an adventure. If you want more space, more typical accommodations, then this is likely not a fit.
Thank you!
