Great pub with rooms, parking and good beer

Wonderful room, decorated tastefully with comfy bed and great selection of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits and water. Very clean and all toiletries and towels included. Great price and perfect location with good choice of restaurants and other bars close by. Selection of ales at G&D was very good. Would stay again.

My stay at the George & Dragon Hotel/ Pub

The Pub is great with great local people in there. The Room was amazing massive comfy bed, nice bathroom, plenty of tea and coffee, the coffee is not those cheap sachets but proper coffee bags. Well do e to the George & Dragon, ps great choice of ales, ciders and lagers.

Great place to stay

We had a great stay on New Years Eve. The rooms was extremely clean, great facilities in the room, drink and snack options in the pub and parking at the rear. Location was excellent for what we wanted.

Friendly local pub warm atmosphere with good facilities and central location to the village.

Stayed there before as I have family in the area it’s a great location for the price over the Christmas period. Checking is really straight forward and the staff are friendly and approachable. Once you check-in it is easy to let yourself in and out central location with great facilities and room.

You can’t really escape the noise of traffic with it being on the main road but something you get used to after a few days.

Disappointing.

The pub is a nice traditional English pub. Bed was comfortable

No wifi in the guest rooms. Room was always cold, even when they managed to get the heating on. Location is rather noisy, the A6 passes with feet of the bedroom window

Spotlessly clean, charming staff, good value.

The room was exceptionally clean, the bathroom being spotless and everything fresh and neat. A big shout out to whoever cleans the rooms at the George and Dragon! I liked the coffee bags as they are better quality than sachets of instant coffee. The towels were opulent.

When I was shown to my room, the key would not open the lock, nor the spare key! Eventually I was given a new room. I noticed, however, when I came to lock the door from the inside, that the lock itself was quite rattly and old which made me wonder whether it could fail and not be opened from the inside. Perhaps all locks on all rooms could be refurbished.

The room was surprisingly modern and fresh! Excellent treats: biscuits, hot chocolate, good coffee, teas, still and sparkling water! Good quality shampoo and conditioner, as well as sparkling white towels!

Gorgeous rooms in an old pub

Lovely big room, very nicely decorated, great amenities (tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits), good size en-suite. The room was much bigger than we expected

Everything was brilliant! The only thing we could have done with is a shelf in the en-suite for putting our toiletries on and some hook on the back of the bathroom door.

One to rebook

Great value for money. The rooms are extremely well designed and are very comfortable. Great selection of beers and wines. Although not a food establishment you can order a takeaway which are plentiful. Restaurants are nearby also very good.

High quality room: exceptional value for money

Seriously best room I’ve stayed in for 15 years. Huge room, tasteful refurb that brings out the best of the historic building. Soooo clean and beautifully prepared for arrival. Hotels in London charging £150 a night don’t take this care. Lovely friendly pub welcome too. Would happily have stayed a longer to make the most of it!

Live Music

The room was nice, very generous on the tea/coffee facilities. The car park was full when I arrived so I called and asked what to do, and the barman moved his car for me.

It was probably my own fault for not thinking harder about staying in a pub on a Saturday night...They had a live band playing and it was so loud, there was a door constantly banging too. When I arrived I saw the ear plugs beside the bed so I feared I was in for a lot of noise. It did end just after 11pm, at which point it did go quiet. Maybe there should be a warning to check live music dates before booking? Otherwise it was a nice place.

Very comfy and convenient in Derbyshire

Lovely, large room and massive bathroom: sooooo good after other pokey English B&Bs at higher prices. A short walk from the station and diverse local buses in the Main Street. Several good eateries for breakfast and dinner just a short walk away.

It’s a standard and comfy English pub, so busy owners may be hard to find on arrival/departure (there is a large bell in the bar) and only pub snacks are offered. None of this is such a big deal when the accommodation is so fine!!
