The Camper Lodge Khao Sok

Amazing food and friendly helpful staff!!

I stayed at The Camper Lodge Khao Sok on a solo holiday and it was truly one of the most unforgettable places I’ve ever experienced. The accommodation is made from converted shipping containers set directly in front of a dramatic, towering mountain range. Waking up and opening the curtains to that view honestly felt like stepping into another world, almost like an “Avatar”-style landscape. One thing I particularly appreciated was how easy the lodge made it to arrange activities. The staff were very helpful in organising day trips to Khao Sok National Park, as well as visits to nearby elephant sanctuaries. Everything was arranged conveniently and smoothly, which took away any stress and allowed me to simply enjoy the experience. The room itself was clean, comfortable, and had a great shower. One of my favourite features was the rooftop setup, with a hammock and chair where you can sit at night and look up at the stars. It was absolutely spectacular and incredibly peaceful. The staff were very polite and welcoming throughout my stay, and the food was consistently excellent, genuinely a 10/10. Breakfast was particularly memorable, not just because of the variety, but because of the incredible surroundings while you eat. You can hear the sounds of wildlife coming from the mountain, which makes the whole experience feel so immersive and special. As a solo female traveller, I felt extremely safe and comfortable the entire time, which meant a lot to me. It’s also surprisingly affordable considering how unique and beautiful it is. Overall, this was one of the best places I’ve ever stayed, even compared to much more expensive hotels I’ve experienced while travelling. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for something truly special, and I would absolutely return whenever I get the chance.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The concept is cool and the location is very beautiful.

The cabins need maintenance. It could also be cleaner. The bathroom had hairs on the walls when I arrived and I asked for this to be cleaned, but unfortunately the cleaner didn’t clean the bathroom walls. The cabin floor was also dirty and there were lots of bugs. There is a large gap next to the balcony door which lets the bugs in. I obviously expect bugs in the jungle in rainy season but there were A LOT. Also, the ants all over the restaurant tables, chairs and floor were very off putting. Again, I realise it is outside but regular cleaning of the surfaces would at least ensure they are not crawling all over when you are eating and crawling onto your plate. It is isolated so you will probably want to eat at the restaurant so it would be nice if it was a bit more pleasant.
