Quaint Village House - 308 CER

Nestled in the small, high-altitude village of Céreste, this authentic house will charm you with its Provençal charm and peaceful surroundings.

Surroundings
Céreste enchants visitors with its narrow, cobblestone streets and old medieval stone houses, as well as its avenue of plane trees along the ancient Roman pilgrimage route, the Via Domitia, which runs right through the village. Particular highlights include the remains of a Roman bridge and the 12th-century Church of Saint-Michel.
The village also has a special connection to René Char, a prominent 20th-century French poet. During World War II, Char joined the Resistance and used the secluded landscapes of the Luberon—and Céreste in particular—as a refuge and source of inspiration. His work often reflects the beauty and resilience of the region.
For nature lovers, Céreste offers numerous hiking trails and well-marked bike paths that wind through the beautiful Luberon countryside. E-bikes can be rented in town. The village has many lovely cafés and restaurants, a weekly market, a bakery, a butcher, a pharmacy, two grocery stores, and a bus stop (Line 915 from Avignon).

Garden and Property
You have a small garden in front of the house (approx. 25 m²) where you can enjoy your meals, have a glass of wine in the evening, and relax. The house’s basement is well-stocked with outdoor furniture (a parasol, several tables, plastic and wooden chairs, lounge chairs, etc.), so there’s something to suit every taste.

The property
This small, typical Provençal stone house is 400 years old and is located right next to the medieval city gate in a picturesque alleyway in the old town, where you hear no traffic noise—only the cries of swifts and the chirping of crickets. It offers a sweeping view of the Luberon from every window.

Ground Floor
The basement is located on the first floor and provides access to the patio furniture.

First Floor
A small, sloping path leads to the front door of the house, which is located on the first floor. When you walk through this door, you’ll find yourself in the living and dining room with a sweeping view of the beautiful countryside and lavender fields. To the right is the open, well-equipped kitchen. Across from it is a room that serves as a laundry room with a washer and dryer, as well as a separate restroom.
The small German-French library in the living room offers you a selection of books from the region to explore.

Second Floor
A small staircase (please note: it is somewhat steep and the ceiling is low in this area) leads you to the second floor, where there are two bedrooms. One room features a single bed, a dresser, and a walk-in closet; the other room has two single beds and storage space. Each room has a desk, making it possible to work from home while enjoying the relaxing view of the Provençal countryside. At the end of the hallway is the bathroom with a toilet and bathtub.

Good to Know
The house has a high-speed fiber-optic internet connection. A crib and a high chair can be provided upon request. The cottage can be heated with electric radiators and the fireplace. Electricity costs for the electric heating and firewood for the fireplace are charged separately in winter. You cannot park your vehicle directly in front of the house, but there is a parking lot a 5-minute walk away.
