Villa Bahia Djerba

Mohamed ist vor Ort für die Vermietung zuständig. Er ist in Frankreich aufgewachsen und lebt nun in Tunesien. Er war sehr freundlich, hat auch nachgefragt ob alles in Ordnung ist. Wir wurden auch mit Brot zum Frühstück überrascht. Für unseren viertägigen Aufenthalt in Djerba war die Villa perfekt. Das ehemalige Familienhaus wurde von den neuen Besitzer sehr schön saniert und umgebaut (Mohamed hat uns Fotos davon gezeigt). Die Kinder liebten das Haus, da es perfekt zum Spielen geeignet ist. Es hat vier verschiedene Schlafräume sowie einen Pool. Mit dem Auto ist alles schnell erreichbar. Das Warmwasser funktionierte zuerst bei zwei Zimmer nicht, wurde aber umgehend behoben (es gibt total 4 Badezimmer). Danke für den schönen Aufenthalt!

Die Küche hat einiges an Material, aber hat noch Potential, damit man sich länger selbst verpflegen kann. Wir haben aber sowieso fast immer auswärts gegessen.

We loved the location. It was wonderful waking up to the call to prayer and hearing the city come to life. We relished being able to walk into the city passing bakeries, interesting shops and sparkling boutiques. Staying here you are right in the heart of Djerba life. We did encounter a few challenges with our stay (see below) but every time we were helped by kind local people in shops, offices, and the street. Our hosts, Mohammed and Yasmina were also generous and very welcoming. We arrived during Ramadan and bottled water, a huge bowl of strawberries, fruit juice, fresh bread and oranges had been left on the table for us. Above all, we are glad we chose this charming house over the Zone Touristique. The house is over 200 years old and has been restored. We loved the archways, the atmosphere and the authentic experience. It was also wonderful being able to cook with food from the fabulous markets. The fruit and vegetables available in Djerba are superb! There was something so relaxing about dining outside by the pool or having coffee watching the dawn. I could go on! I guess my message is arrive prepared for a unique break, practice your French, explore, enjoy and appreciate Djerba.

I would not say these are dislikes, but just items for future guests to be aware. Booking.com states that payment is by Visa or Mastercard in Euros. So I arrived prepared to pay by card. Unfortunately, Booking.com has got this wrong, so I would advise guests to check directly with the owners before travelling (Yasmina speaks French and beautiful English) so that guests know to bring enough Euros. In the end it was not possible to buy Euros or dollars anywhere we tried on the island (and we made extensive inquiries), so having accurate information in advance is very important. Our trip began in a time of extremely rainy weather, tempest was the word we heard used! In the rare event of heavy rain, the house may experience some leaks. This only happened once, but it is worth knowing the locations of all the fuse boxes so that you can restore power, especially heating. But as I said, this rain storm was rare and extreme. There is ample hot water water, and the pressure is excellent, but the showers do not drain well, so just be careful not to flood the bathroom and consequently the bedrooms. I would also recommend checking before travelling that your mobile will work. Mine ran through a huge amount of credit, but still would not allow calls or messages. The WIFI works in the house, but for being contactable when out and about, I think buying a Tunisian SIM would be a good idea. But these are not really "dislikes", just things to prepare for. I would definitely return and this was an amazing experience.

L'Hôte (Si Mohamed, le papa de Yasmina) était super gentil et présent à la demande pour régler nos demandes. Il nous a même offert une pastèque bien froide lors de l'une de ses visite pour entretenir la piscine. Les chambres , très authentiques à la Djerbienne: 3 suites pour 3 couples: Parfaite répartition, chacun sa petite maisonette avec son propre WC, climatisation au top. les 3 suites sont autour de la piscine. on partageaient la même cuisine. Tout était bien entretenu. L'hôte offre des draps, serviettes, ameneties de la salle de bain.

Cuisine bien équipée mais mal aérée. ça n'a pas posé de problème vu qu'on passe la majorité de notre temps au bord de la piscine et en explorant Djerba la douce.
