    My husband and I stayed here for a week with my senior parents and we really enjoyed our stay! Our rooms had a city view and the beds were comfortable and basic amenities were complete. Staff at the front desk, housekeeping and especially the restaurant were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, and the location was excellent since it allowed us easy access to necessities, natural heritage sites, and Silliman University which was the reason we went to Dumaguete this week.

    Great location, but the hotel looks a bit old, especially with the chipped paint on the lobby walls. The bathroom floor also had visible stains that looked like soap residue. Overall, the place could use some cleaning and maintenance.

    When we got to Dumaguete we stayed two nights at "M.Y. Hotel" around the corner. But that hotel would only give my wife and I one key. Seriously? Regardless, that got old fast, so we found Essencia right around the corner, and it was reasonably priced. They also gave us two keys! Well it paid off for them because we stayed two and a half months, while we made preparations for a house we're building. While staying at Essencia , we hit most of the rooms in the hotel, or at least most of the types of rooms. We actually liked the twin deluxe rooms the best. It had the most room, and we pushed the beds together for one big bed. The room was decent and came with a small fridge, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo and cotton swabs. Also a small safe. They do only give you two bath towels and no hand towel, but we were there so long, we just kept an extra bath towel for use as a hand towel. They do need some new bathroom mats, as they've seen better days. The cleaning staff were all very nice and helpful. Actually all the hotel staff were nice and helpful. They train their employees well, as not all staff in Philippine hotels are nice. Easencia also has a morning buffet for breakfast. It's not all that impressive, as there isn't much to choose from. Mostly Philippine food, with some scrambled eggs, bread and watermelon. But the breakfast was good enough, especially since I'm not a huge breakfast person. What I found strange is that their food at the restaurant, during dinner, is really good, and at a reasonable price! Their shrimp gambas with some garlic rice was good, as was their bacon cheeseburger! My wife enjoyed the food she got their too. I recommend it if your looking for good food at a reasonable price, and don't feel like going out. The wait staff is also very attentive and kind. They also have room service, but not all night. I also loved the basement parking garage. Our rental scooter stayed dry, and out of the sun. At M.Y. Hotel you had to park outside, down the street from the hotel, and your seat got wet and toasty in the sun. Anyway, I'm glad M. Y. Hotel was so stingy with the key cards, because Essencia was a much better value, in my opinion. I'd definitely stay at Essencia again!

    stayed here 1 night for an event, the location is good just few minute walking distance from fast foods and Dunkin Donut. - Siliman area as well however the rooms smells musty and the pillows as well needs to be changed not just the "pillow case" they have good food though and staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Would probably recommend for dine and events but not for stay
