Staying at Borgo Pignano was not just a vacation—it was a return to a slower, more meaningful way of living. Nestled high in the rolling Tuscan hills, this estate feels like a place out of time, where elegance, history, and nature blend seamlessly. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the sweeping views—olive groves, vineyards, and cypress trees stretching as far as the eye could see. The main villa, with its frescoed walls and centuries-old charm, set the tone for a stay that was both luxurious and deeply soulful. Every detail is thoughtful, from the refined, rustic design of the rooms to the organic bath products made right on the estate. We especially loved the infinity pool carved into the limestone—it offers one of the most stunning views in all of Tuscany. The food was exceptional—fresh, seasonal, and sourced from the property’s own biodynamic farm. Whether enjoying a multi-course meal at Villa Pignano or a wood-fired pizza under the stars at Al Fresco, every bite told a story of the land. But what truly made our stay unforgettable was the sense of peace and authenticity. The staff were gracious, warm, and quietly attentive—always there when you needed them, but never intrusive. Whether you’re exploring nearby hill towns, enjoying a wine tasting, or simply reading under the shade of an ancient oak, Borgo Pignano offers something rare: a space to reconnect—with nature, with beauty, and with yourself. This was one of the most beautiful places we have stayed. The grounds were well kept and had so many things for us to do. The staff go out of their way to make you comfortable and feel well taken care of. Gigi was the sweetest man and gave us a tour of the property. There are pigs, horses, vineyards, and full garden. The rooms are big and beautiful with plenty of space and lovely decorations.

What’s not to love about Borgo Pignano? From the moment you step onto the property, it feels as though you’ve entered another world. This stunning historic estate offers a perfect blend of ancient charm and modern luxury. The amenities are exceptional, and the staff—especially Vittorio and Gigi—are incredibly attentive, ensuring that every aspect of our stay was pleasant and memorable. The on-site Michelin-starred restaurant is a true culinary highlight. We stayed at the San Bartolomeo House, an impressive two-story accommodation with the master suite on the upper floor—thoughtfully designed and beautifully appointed. Breakfast at Borgo Pignano is world-class, and the lower pool offers one of the most breathtaking views we’ve ever seen. To our surprise, the estate even includes a museum filled with antique cars and motorcycles—an unexpected and delightful touch. But what truly stood out to us was the evident love and care that owner Michael Moritz has poured into this place. We were told he knows every staff member by name. That might seem ordinary, but for someone of his stature, it reflects a rare level of humility and personal investment. My wife and I were genuinely impressed by the meticulous attention to detail throughout the property. Borgo Pignano is a treasure in every sense

Borgo was an absolute dream to stay in. The views are magical and the staff was very accommodating. The rooms are spacious, clean and so beautiful! It is important to note that it is very far from most places and transportation is difficult if not booked in advance. Also, please I can’t stress this enough, bring bug spray.

The breakfast was EXCELLENT, the hotel was gorgeous with a beautiful pool. We were able to do the horseback riding with Sara who made a first timer feel very comfortable, do a wine tasting with Lorenzo who was charming and so fun, and get a massage and enjoy the steam room. The front desk staff was super helpful and helped plan our stay weeks before we even arrived and made suggestions and reservations for us all throughout. We were also lucky enough to meet GG (who may be the manager or guest relations) who looked out for us during our entire stay and showed us around the gorgeous property. We cannot recommend this hotel enough.

Hotel is great, we did several trails around the property - beautiful! Breakfast and lunch was good. We did have the bigger room (900 sq ft) so it was quite spacious. Bathroom could be a bit cleaner. Dinner was not great and quite over priced for what it was (we had some starters and pasta). We also tried pastas at lunch and those were great (different menu). we were offered champagne before we looked at the menu (25 euros per person), and we asked for some Brunello without looking at the menu which we were charged about 25 euros per person too. The pool looked amazing, it was a bit chilly outside so we couldn’t use it. Overall great experience minus the over priced and not super flavorful dinner!
