Attico di Zoe

In der turbulenten Altstadt gelegen konnten wir uns eine von drei Dachterrassen aussuchen um zu entspannen. Ob zum Frühstück oder zum Aperitif vor dem Abendessen haben wir die Terrassen sehr gerne genutzt. Die Wohnung ist hell und freundlich eingerichtet. Für 2 Personen ein kleines Paradies über den Gassen der Altstadt.

We was able to check in early. The property was clean,spacious and had everything we needed including 3 terraces. The location was brilliant.

Cristina was easy to get in touch with and met us there to hand over the keys and show us around. She lives downstairs so handy if you have any issues. Location is fantastic. I'd advise a taxi from the train station as it is quite a hike (they'll drop you in Archimedes square and it's a minute's walk from there). The apartment is right in the middle of one of the busier streets with shops and eateries literally downstairs. It's and a minute's walk from the cathedral one way and a grocery store the other. Despite it's location, it's quiet with the bedroom being at the back, away from the street and no noise from downstairs neighbours - as a light sleeper, I was fine to sleep and didn't need earplugs. It's quite spacious with lovely terrazzo floors and the two terraces (one off the bedroom and one that wraps around the kitchen) are large. They face all directions so there's somewhere to sit at all times of day, plus the north eastern ones have some views. Very light, bright and cheerful. It feels very secure with three locked doors to get in and no way anyone is coming in across the roof. There's a large bedroom with the bathroom off that, then a small corridor to the kitchen. No lounge room but there is a lounge, seats and a table in the bedroom area. Nice bedside tables. Bathroom has a shower with a concertina door rather than a shower curtain. Kitchen is smallish but everything worked fine. Italian coffee pot rather than machine. Small bar fridge which was big enough.

Minor things and certainly nothing that is really a dislike: There are three flights of stairs - they are wide, not as steep as some, you get used to them and we really needed the exercise after all the food. The bed was very firm and the pillows were quite flat, which is the same for a lot of Italian places we stayed at. A microwave would be handy, and so would a sharp knife for slicing vegetables. But this is a perfect place for Siracusa, highly recommended if you like your own space.

I hadn’t realised the apartment was on the third floor - I read “steps to the upper floors” to imply we only had to walk up the last flight - my fault entirely. The bed was very very firm - I used the cushions from the patio furniture to provide a mattress topper. The apartment would be improved with some soft comfortable seating either indoors or out - a sunbed outside would be lovely.
