Pinescape Homestay

At the time of booking, I had noticed that this place had a monastery and a forest area behind it. On arrival, I knew immediately that this would be my go-to place every time I visit Kurseong. The Shidey Drukhang Monastery and the Heaven - Pine Forest Ecopark are right behind this homestay. The hosts — Sangay Yolmo and his wife — are warm, gracious people. Sangay went out of his way to make us comfortable throughout our stay. He arranged sightseeing through his friend and neighbor, Mr. Raju Sherpa — a courteous and careful driver who took us safely around Kurseong and to Darjeeling the next day. Back at the homestay, the ground floor rooms were spotless, including the bathroom. And the food — it was simply outstanding. From early morning tea to dinner, we had all our meals there, and I would recommend the food to every visitor. Mrs. Yolmo is an excellent cook, and we got to taste a wonderful variety of local dishes, each more delicious than the last. What makes this place even more special is its setting — a small village at the edge of the forest, very quiet and very peaceful. Walk into the Pine Forest behind the homestay and you will want to never leave. Overall, a truly beautiful experience at Pinescape Homestay!

As the word Homestay suggests, it was true to its name. We really felt at home, it has great views and is good if you want a relaxed and peaceful time.

I liked the property. Nothing to dislike.

Break fast is good. Room facility is good. Gyser/ bathroom is also good. Host is friendly and does room service for dinner on request. Facility overall is fine for this off beat location. From our room window, sun set view was v nice.

This place is not near any market where you can eat, so need to order food (specially dinner) from the home stay. Price of any meal is 280 (veg/ non veg irrespective of egg or chicken, with daal, veg, salad & papad), which is on the higher side v/s local market rate. Breakfast is free though. Food quality is OK. If you book taxi from their contact for local sight seeing or drop to NJP, rates are slightly higher v/s market, but since this is a remote area you don't have much option. Have told them to put a sign board for direction at the road below as otherwise you have to call and ask direction. Mobile signals are almost nil in the room, but you can get once you step out. Some Wifi is there .
