The best community experience I've had at a hostel. 10/10 recommend!

I've stayed in my share of hostels and Green House is so unique! The set-up really encourages a community within the hostel unlike any other place i've stayed before. I highly encourage any english-speaking travelers to learn some Portuguese before arriving to get the most out of your experience. Although I didn't know Portuguese I was still welcomed and included amongst the community. The staff and volunteers were so friendly and kind, shoutout to Isish (i definitely spelled her name wrong) for being so sweet! The accommodations were very comfortable. I was shocked how well I slept on the camping mat. They provided a light and outlet next to my tent. Obviously its camping so you'll see some ants crawling around outside your tent but inside i never saw a single bug, i kept my bug net zipper closed. The location is great. 10 min walk to a huge grocery store, drug store. 5 min to a lookout point. 20 min to the beach. Keep in mind that this is a camping accommodation. You will see bugs on the ground and hear animals at night. It didn't bother me but they have indoor beds if camping isn't for you. Personally I liked having my own space. I can't recommend it enough! I'll be back being able to speak Portuguese soon!

Desorganizado, mas tem potencial de ser bom um dia.

O espaço entre as barracas era bom, minha barraca tinha uma tomada exclusiva (mas não eram todas que tinham), foi bom não ter que levar minha própria barraca e colchão

A principal palavra para descrever minha estadia é "desorganização". Logo na chegada, fui enviado para um endereço incorreto. O camping ainda estava em obras, o que fazia com que fosse impossível ficar no camping pelo barulho de construção das 8:00 às 20:00. Os problemas de infraestrutura eram evidentes. A casa possuía três chuveiros, mas só um deles era quente (morno no máximo), e a falta de água era uma constante. O terreno inclinado obriga que as barracas fiquem em degraus, e o acesso a elas por escadas sem corrimão foi um desafio para meu joelho. Senti falta também de uma área comum melhor. Os funcionários eram todos voluntários, e apesar de serem prestativos, muitos não falavam português. Por último, o dono tinha práticas de trabalho exploratórias, com muitos voluntários trabalhando 10h+ por dia 7 dias por semana em troca de pão, café e uma barraca. Apesar disso não afetar minha estadia, acho importante mencionar, já que é pra ele que vai o seu dinheiro.
