Carina is a private 1-bedroom + loft apartment at Casa Verapaz, a peaceful lakeside property with beautiful lake and volcano views.
Please note that Casa Verapaz also has two other apartments on the property: Vela and Pablo. Your booking includes private use of Carina, while the pool, hot springs jacuzzi, gardens, and lake access are shared with guests staying in the other apartments.

Carina is one private apartment at Casa Verapaz. There are two other apartments on the property: Vela and Pablo.
Your booking includes private use of the Carina apartment. The pool, hot springs jacuzzi, gardens, and lake access are shared with guests staying in the other apartments.
Please note that the pool is not heated. The hot springs jacuzzi is heated on request, and the lake access is natural lakeshore access, not a beach-style swimming area.
Location:
Casa Verapaz is located in Santa Catarina Palopó, with both road and lake access. It is a short walk from the village and about 10–12 minutes by car from Panajachel.
Guest access:
Guests will have private access to the Carina apartment.
The pool, hot springs jacuzzi, gardens, and lake access are shared with guests staying in the other apartments on the property.
Carina also has its own private balcony BBQ for your use.
If arriving by car, guests may park only in the assigned parking space for Carina. You will receive keys for the property entrances, with access from both the main road and the lakeside, and we will also provide a gate remote for easier entry.
Some gated areas of the property, including the main house and service areas, are reserved for owners and staff only.
Other things to note:
- Check-in instructions will be sent 24 hours before arrival.
- Dog-friendly: $50 USD / Q385 per pet, per stay. Please add your pet to the reservation.
- Laundry service is available for Q60 per load.
- Parking: On-site parking is best suited for smaller vehicles. Larger vehicles may need to park on the street or in paid parking nearby.
- Please note that, as is common in our hillside lakeside setting, the property includes stairs and outdoor walking paths between some areas.
- For safety, exterior security cameras are located at the front entrance, stairs, and rear entrances. They record video only, not sound.
- The property offers natural lake access, not a beach-style swimming area.
- The pool is not heated, and the jacuzzi is heated on request.
- Santa Catarina Palopó is a peaceful village, but like many towns in Guatemala, there may occasionally be fireworks, music, church sounds, or local celebrations.

The place was perfect for our group of six—beautiful garden, wonderful views, and nice kitchen. Alfonso, the groundskeeper, was extremely helpful and responsive. We would absolutely recommend staying in this place!

We loved Casa Verapaz. The caretaker Alfonso was great and communication with Julio was excellent. The views from the living area are truly breathtaking and accommodations are wonderful. Santa Catarina Palopó is a short walk down the hill and is a great little village. Our boys played soccer with the locals there and we bought fresh tortillas for breakfast. The tuk tuk ride to Pana was easy and affordable. If you are noise sensitive, know that the structure is shared so some noise does drift in from the other unit. There are also dogs on the property that intermittently bark during the night. But, we were overall very happy with our selection and would stay here again. I can’t imagine a more beautiful setting than Casa Verapaz and it is definitely worth 5 stars.

Our entire stay was nothing short of amazing!!! The host and groundskeeper were so pleasant and immediately make you feel welcomed. The apartment is gorgeous with direct views of the lake. There is a large garden filled with beautiful trees, plants, a pool and jacuzzi. Perfect location with lake access!!! We would 100% choose to stay at this property over and over again lol
