VILLA LIRA in Cala Morell

The location of the property is great for a very very quiet holiday. Which is what we wanted for a week. There are a few local restaurants, but we didn't manage to book in time to visit. But with a car, there are many easy to get to. The beach in Cala Morell is great for snorkelling. We arrived to a lovely parcel with a few local goodies in, a welcome surprise. The pool is a great size and nice and deep, with easy steps to get into it and the terrace around it has lots of space. There is a roof terrace where you can watch the fabulous sunset every night. There are really comfy sofas and a bigger TV than is shown in the images. Good spaces to eat both inside and out, with plenty of space for cooking a meal in the fairly well equipped kitchen. The fridge/ freezer is big. There is a dolce latte machine, as well as a filter coffee machine and an espresso stove top. A few things that would improve the stay, would be some more comprehensive instructions such as where light switches are for outside. (We never managed to turn on the outside lights around the pool). And the pool lights only came on after a mid-week visit from someone adding more chlorine to the pool. Instructions for the TV etc would also be useful. Even though there is no Aircon using the shutters in the day and with the fans on all the time, it keeps the house just about cool enough. We would definitely come back. Th

Lovely villa, but many many areas for improvement. Various kitchen utensils obviously unwashed. No duvets on beds - had to make our own beds. No welcome pack obviously available - finally found it late in the evening in broken draw in TV cabinet. TV didn't work at all - could not get it to work with TV apps, period, so spent entire stay with no television. Major construction site next door with other villa, every day. Highly unpleasant, and no mention made of it when we made it booking. One teeny tiny bin bag provided, and only two loo rolls. Never lasted. No bin trolleys present where we were asked to take rubbish - need to update info pack. No washing liquid provided, and only 2 dishwasher tablets provided. Provisions well short of the normal. Garden unkempt with litter (wind blown?) across garden. Pool side beds broken (x2). Tried contacting host/booking agent several times - no luck/reply. I've been travelling plenty over 25 years, and this was very disappointing, but we adapted and made it magical. We wont be recommending this villa, which is pity, as it really has potential to be super. One of our worst, and we are easy to please, simple travellers. Pity, but Menorca as a whole made it worth it!
