Great facility and location but (what i had felt) the receptionists were looking unwelcome. Thai people (mostly in tourism industry) are known for their smile but the receptionists from this hotel looked at me unwelcoming.

The staff were friendly, considerate and very professional. The room was spotless and more than adequate for a very comfortable stay. The only drawback, if you can call it that, was live music (quite pleasant) was being played, every night, across the road, from early evening until midnight. However it wasn't an issue for me. I'm just highlighting it in case it's a showstopper for you.

I had a bit of a mixed experience at Icon Park Hotel, and I think it’s important to temper expectations, especially considering they market themselves as a four-star hotel. First off, the location is fantastic—right near the moat of Chiang Mai’s Old Town, making it super easy to access all the major tourist spots. Plus, the hotel is very accommodating when it comes to tour providers who will pick you up right from the lobby. The staff are mostly friendly and polite, which is a given in Thailand, but unfortunately, there are some key areas where the hotel falls short of the four-star standard. For example, when I called down to request a shaving kit, I received a packet with just a disposable razor. No shaving cream—something that, at the very least, I expected from a four-star hotel. When I called the reception to clarify, they confirmed that’s all they provide and suggested I use soap as a substitute for shaving cream. This is a basic expectation that they clearly missed, and it was frustrating to deal with. Then, there was an unfortunate incident involving a bar-goer who came into the hotel lobby and vomited in the wash basin. The mess wasn’t cleaned up until the following afternoon, which seemed like a huge oversight in basic cleanliness and customer care, especially for a hotel of this caliber. On another occasion, the fire alarm went off in the building, which was triggered by someone smoking on the floor. While I understand these things happen, the response from the hotel staff was concerning. They disappeared from the lobby for about 20 minutes, leaving guests confused and unsure about what to do. It took quite some time before staff reappeared and assured us it was a false alarm. In such a situation, clear communication and quick action are essential. Lastly, while this might be a personal preference, the cold weather in Chiang Mai during January made it uncomfortable to take a warm shower. The hot water capacity was very limited, and the wash basin didn’t even have hot water. It’s a small detail, but one that adds up when you’re trying to stay comfortable. Overall, while Icon Park Hotel’s location is great and the staff are generally friendly, it falls short in several areas that are crucial for a four-star experience. It’s not a terrible option, but I would expect a bit more consistency in service and amenities.
