The staff at the hotel were very nice and helpful. The breakfast was ok, nothing fancy, but nice to have the option. The room was dirty, moist, smells bad and has mold in the bathroom. You can tell the bedding is not washed between guests. The pillows and mattress are old and stained. The bathroom has black mold growing in the room and the shower is really dirty, I had to use my sandals. The room smelled so moldy especially with the AC on. The bed comes with one sheet, one pillow and no blanket. I wouldn’t mind so much but I spent $300 per night here and the room is a health risk. I would not stay here again and would steer friends away from here too.

Very friendly and helpful staff! They were kind and attentive to our needs. The hotel was extremely clean and we thoroughly enjoyed staying in it. The surrounding area was also very safe and accessible with various amenities such as transportation and dining nearby.

What a deception! I have many times chosed Ibis Botafogo when in Rio, and have been very satisfied. This time however Ibis Botafogo was fully booked and I ended up at Ibis styles Horrible bed and pillows, bad cleaning up, you could hear your neighbors chat, the breakfast was some afternoon tea, a lot of cakes, the reception staff, well they answered the questions where the knew tha answers, but didn´t do a thing to make a call to get more information. Long time since I stayed at such a bad hotel, not even cheap. To avoid,

First time there. I have stayed at several Ibis in the past but this one was worst. The floor was sticky, or dirty or cleaned with the wrong product. We used socks to not get our feet sticky. Bathroom had mold. Traveling with a small child this was terrible.

If you are traveling with your family go somewhere else. This hotel is not family friendly. The hotel is not soundproof and you will hear all night long people talking on the street. The only good experience we had was the breakfast, nice staff and good food.

Offering good value, the Ibis Styles Botafogo is well located for both business and leisure travellers coming to Rio as it is located right next to the Botafogo metro which gives easy access to Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon, and even Barra, and in the other direction the city centre, docks, Maracana, Stadium etc. The metro square has a good selection of bars and restaurants and close by is Botafogo Praia Shopping, one of Rio's better shopping centres. After a long summer season the property could do with a deep clean to spruce it up, but overall it ticks most of the boxes travellers on a budget want and demand.

We have traveled in 50+ countries and stayed at several Ibis Styles properties, and never seen such a terrible one as this. For example: (1) This is the only Ibis Styles hotel we know of (located in any developing country like Brazil where the tap water is unsafe to drink) that does not provide bottled water to their guests. You have to pay 5 Reais for a small bottle at the front desk. (2) This is the only Ibis Styles hotel we know of that does not provide a kettle to make hot water (for tea/coffee) either in the room or downstairs in the lobby. If you want hot water you have to pay 6 Reais per cup. (3) This is the only Ibis Styles hotel we know of that does not provide quilts/comforters/blankets in the room. All they had on the bed was a thin sheet. (4) This was the smallest standard room of any Ibis Styles hotel we know of. The size was exactly that of a room at an Ibis Budget hotel. (5) This is the only Ibis Styles hotel we know of that does not provide hand-towels in the bathroom. Each guest only got one bath towel, period. (6) This is the only Ibis Styles hotel we know of that does not even provide a plastic disposable cup in the bathroom for guests to use. (7) The breakfast they provided was beyond disgraceful. Mushy, half-rotten papaya, unripe melon, rotten bananas and a large selection of tasteless buns and rolls, along with scrambled eggs that had turned into leather, and some disgusting looking bacon.

The hotel is excellent, very well located in front of the Botafogo’s subway station. The hotel is modern and clean, the breakfast is very good with fruit, juice, cakes, it offers all you can expect. And I would like to make a compliment to Heidywaldo, who works at the reception, he was very polite and helpful in everything I needed during my stay.
