Had a very good stay at We Are Surfers Hotel Weligama. The best part is direct beach access, you literally step out and you’re on the sand. Perfect for early morning or sunset walks. Rooms were clean and comfortable, staff were friendly and chilled, matching the surf vibe of Weligama. Great spot if you want to surf or just relax by the ocean without dealing with crowds. If you’re looking for a simple, beachfront stay in Weligama, this is it. Would stay here again. ☮️

Probably one of the best ocean views you can find in Weligama – easily the strongest point of this hotel. The private beach, with crabs and rock skippers around, creates a unique and memorable atmosphere. The staff also deserves recognition: very friendly, helpful, and genuinely trying to assist. Wifi and AC worked perfectly. Unfortunately, that’s where the highlights end. The rooms are clearly below expectations – quite dark and not very inviting (nothing like in the official photos), with a musty smell noticeable both in the room and in the bedding and towels. Cleanliness could be improved, as there was visible dust and cobwebs. The bedding and towels were also not properly clean, with noticeable greasy stains on the sheets. The bathroom also needs attention: one of the lights wasn’t working and the shower gel provided was diluted and in very limited quantity. In the room, the lighting setup didn’t help either – only a cold, overhead light was available, with no warm or ambient lighting. Simple details like bedside lamps and warmer light could significantly improve the overall feel. Breakfast was okay – fairly basic. Overall, if you’re patient and can overlook a number of inconveniences, the hotel might still be worth it for the exceptional ocean view and location. However, the room standard does not match the potential of this place.

This is perfect, just exactly what we needed in all aspects. Private little beach to explore, exquisite sunset everyday with view of surfers in the distance, delicious homemade food made with love, clean and comfy rooms, and friendly smily staff.

Property is good but its at an isolated location… any nearby cafe is at-least 3km away… getting local transport is difficult:.. as the drivers were hesitant to come… sometimes locals also opposed the PickMe riders (the local cab app). In the whole property only 1 room was occupied by us even though details were like last room left, but the property seems to have about 10 rooms at least so basically wrong advertisement to lure guest in, don't know if i ever could trust just declarations. For lunch and dinners we were asked to order in advance if needed.
