Room was smaller than expected but still great. Service was fantastic. Room for improvement on a place to put garbage in the room or in the lobby. Valet was quite slow this weekend and we were late to our plans due to lack of valet workers. Would still recommend to friends!

Room was ok. Elevator was terrible. Dining at restaurant/bar was expensive and I didn't care for their menu. Parking at $60 per night seemed excessive. Too many homeless people in the streets near it.

The elevator is original, built in 1913. There is only one elevator for Staff and guests. It broke down twice on our 1 day stay. We had to walk to our room that was on the 11th floor twice,if it wasn’t out of service it was extremely slow and had to wait 10-15 minute minimum for the elevator to arrive. This hospital is not friendly for disabled or elderly people.

So hot. Check in area was hot. Had to go in their restaurant to wait for check in. Check I. was strange. There is no wriggle room on the 3:00 check in time. None. They really wait until 3:00 to start checking people in. Massive line of people. Our room would have been fine but Air conditioner didn’t work and it was super loud on top of that.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The room was cozy and comfortable. Chic design throughout and a historic property. We had great service and staff was welcoming and accommodating for our early check-in request. Very convenient location. The restaurant downstairs is delicious also. Minor downside was a slightly noisy AC and just one elevator working- it’s an old-fashioned one and the doors are kind of heavy. Overall I would stay again for sure!

The aesthetic was cute but the room was uncomfortable , you would go from hot to cold and then back to hot in a matter of 30 minutes . The noise was horrible, you could hear every door slam shut every 15 minutes with people using the stairs, so if sleep is what you are looking for don’t stay here.

Room was not cleaned when requested and no fresh towels. Lift out of order. No internet for duration of stay. And air conditioning did not work. Staff unhelpful. Still waiting to be compensated for having to purchase internet elsewhere. Plus unknown charge on bill. No explanation and no invoice provided

The Palihotel San Diego is such a gem. The rooms are definitely on the smaller side, but they’re perfectly cozy — ideal for anyone traveling solo who loves a minimal yet thoughtfully designed space. Everything feels clean, modern, and effortlessly stylish without being over the top. The staff deserves major credit, especially Ina at the front desk, who was so kind and helpful from check-in to check-out. The location couldn’t be better — everything I needed was either a short walk away or a quick Uber ride (never more than $20). The on-site restaurant was another highlight. The manager was clearly hands-on, making sure guests were taken care of even during the busy rush. Plus, the entire place is an Instagram dream — seriously, every corner is a photo op if you’re into capturing chic, content-ready vibes. Highly recommend for anyone traveling solo or looking for an affordable, stylish stay in San Diego.

I booked this for an artist I work for and they got bed bugs, the photos are much nicer than the actual hotel. When you travel a lot for work its nice to have a boutique hotel but this really threw a wrench in the weekend. Do not stay here.

We love the Palihotel group of properties and were really excited to try this new one. The rooftop is AMAZING and the quirky elevators from 1913 were fun, but there were some weird design flaws (such as the decades of paint made it literally impossible to close the bathroom window, so it was swung open with a drop down from the 8fth floor - there was no latch and no way to close it, even after calling the front desk). Overall a cute spot for the cost, as this was a fraction of what most Pali properties have been per night. The bar was also wonderful and we loved the cocktail selection.

Stylish hotel, attractive, good location. But it seemed that the appearance of the place took priority over function and comfort. The room was small but pretty. I've stayed at older boutique properties before, so I understand small, but I also know that small spaces require smart design. In this case, there was very little room for anything -- no space on the vanity, scant shelving (the little wardrobe shelf was full of overpriced minibar items), no room in fridge (again chock full of minibar for purchase). I don't know why hotel rooms always fail to put hooks on the walls. Strangely, there was also an absence of trash receptacles, both in the room and throughout the property, and no recycling whatsoever. Vintage elevator -- again, cool and charming if not exactly convenient -- especially since it broke, so we took the stairs a lot, which wasn't too bad on the 4th floor but I really felt for those staying on the 11th... Staff was friendly and helpful -- in particular, there was a young guy who brought us ice and whom we saw running around the hotel doing various tasks, who was especially welcoming and personable. Neighborhood was convenient and lively, with lots of dining drinking and entertainment options, but pretty hectic on weekend nights with the Padres in town. Rooftop offered beautiful views.

Broken sliding door to our bathroom… couldn’t close it! Two elevators, but only one worked and they are the original old school ones, so only 6 people can squeeze in at a time. Needed to wait a couple of times for our turn. Couldn’t regulate our temp in our room, even after maintenance came to fix it… room was 79! Not comfortable!
