    The property is absolutely beautiful and the interior design is stunning — it truly looks like a high-end boutique hotel. Unfortunately, the overall experience didn’t match the standard the hotel is trying to represent. The check-in felt extremely lazy and unprofessional. The manager didn’t even show us the room properly — we weren’t informed that there was a hidden sink inside our room, so for the first two days we used an outside bathroom without a sink, simply because no one explained it to us. Although the manager seemed polite on the surface, he was not genuinely engaged or helpful. There was no introduction, no tour, not even basic information like where the pool was. It felt like we were left to figure everything out ourselves. Another issue was the lack of consistency. Every day I ordered the exact same smoothie and coffee, and every single day it came different — different taste, different presentation, different proportions even a different glass. In a hotel of this price and positioning, consistency should be guaranteed. The waiters were very friendly, but not well-organised. Small mistakes happened often, and service overall lacked professionalism. Food was also disappointing at times — one dinner in particular was very poor: the fish was extremely dry and basically inedible. The biggest issue, however, was an incident around 5 PM one day when staff suddenly started spraying diesel to kill insects — without any warning. Within minutes there was white smoke everywhere inckuding our room and we had no idea what was happening. I was on a work call at the time, it disrupted everything, and a staff member even walked into the area and appeared in my camera view despite clearly seeing I was busy — just to take a breakfast order. Overall, the hotel has great potential and looks amazing, but service management, communication and professionalism need serious improvement.

    Gorgeous view, rooms and property. On a great beach for swimming. Away from the main beaches, but easily reached by tuk tuk, which are right outside the gate. Highly recommend.

    We had the absolute pleasure of staying at Eraeliya Villas and Gardens on the 5th and 6th of September to celebrate my wife’s birthday, and it was one of the most memorable experiences we’ve had together. From the moment we arrived, the warmth and attentiveness of the team made us feel at home, while the property itself gave us a sense of being in a private, serene sanctuary. The entire staff deserves heartfelt appreciation—Mr. Suranga (Resort Manager), Hashan (Front Office), Ms. Kavishka (Guest Relations), Rex (our butler), and Hashan (Housekeeping). Each of them went out of their way to make our stay seamless and unforgettable. Not only did Rex, our butler, take incredible care of us, but Ms. Kavishka also personally welcomed us and ensured we were always well looked after. This personalized care and genuine hospitality are what make Eraeliya stand apart. The property itself is a masterpiece, with architecture inspired by the legendary Geoffrey Bawa, brought to life by the artistic vision of Nyuri, the creative mind behind the concept. Every corner reflects elegance, minimalism, and harmony with nature. One villa that truly fascinated us was the “Ambalama”—a stunning open-concept space with an open-sky bath and interiors bathed in warm natural sunlight. It captures a magical blend of sophistication and simplicity, and it left us deeply impressed. During our stay, we were upgraded to Diviya Villa, which opened out to the pool and offered a conspicuous view of the beach. The combination of privacy, comfort, and those sweeping vistas made it a truly special experience. The beautifully landscaped gardens add to the soothing and calming atmosphere, making it feel like a hidden paradise. Another highlight was the cocktail evening, where we had the opportunity to connect with the management team, share our feedback, and feel genuinely heard. While everything was exceptional, a dedicated restaurant would be a lovely future addition to this enchanting property. And of course, nothing can match the magic of the private-like beach access just steps away from the villas. Watching the sunset over Weligama’s coastline from there was an unforgettable moment, one of the most breathtaking views we’ve ever seen on the Southern Coast. With just 11 unique villas, Eraeliya offers exclusivity, tranquility, and a rare balance between privacy and comfort. For us, what makes this place truly remarkable is not only its artistic design and stunning surroundings, but most importantly, the warm hospitality of the staff who made us feel so special throughout our stay. We loved it so much that we wished to extend our visit but had to return home due to prior commitments. One thing we know for sure—we will be back later this year. If you’re looking for a sanctuary in Weligama or the Southern Coast that combines artistry, architecture, natural beauty, and heartfelt care, Eraeliya Villas and Gardens is the perfect choice

    If possible, avoid loft option for accommodation. It is connected to staff facilities, quite noisy, rooms not very clean (especially bathroom), also quite smelly from sewage pipes (they spray perfume each time when cleaning, but it doesn’t last). Location is more remote to Weligama, please note that. Advantages: clean beach right in front of hotel, beautiful garden, nice bar nearby “Silent Pup”.
