Insects in the bed. The rooms were dirty. The GREAT breakfast was non-existent. It was supposed to start at 7:30 am and the door was locked. No breakfast. I would give this place ZERO stars if I could.

Clean room, courteous staff, and large room. The hotel is unique in its design and layout, which makes it fun to walk around the building and appreciate how old it is. The room decor helps you get the feel of a different time, very cozy. I'll be back

I enjoyed my stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. I researched Gunn House with the help of AI and was fascinated by the history of this 175 year old building. The room was clean. All the Furnishings in my room were antique and I would love to have taken all of it with me. The layout of the hotel is a little confusing. I had a difficult time finding my room at first. If your physically challenged by high steps and steep staircases you may want to choose another Hotel. The breakfast was excellent.

I don’t write negative reviews often. And this isn’t to slam the property just an FYI, and do better kind of review… first, the guy who checked me in was falling asleep as he checked me in… this was about 4pm. Second, sheets were clean? But had hairs all over them… third, towels were not visibly clean, after seeing the bed I cautiously approached the towels… there were little hairs in them. I can handle hair… but then I opened up one of the bath towels and it had brown streaks in it… I did not mention to staff because I figured “new” towels would probably be same condition… like I said do better. Historic and dirty are two different things.

Stayed here overnight to go to an Ironstone Winery concert in Murphys. Clean, comfy, and very nostalgic of the gold rush era. Cute rooms with AC that works okay-ish. Nice pool! Super lovely staff that runs this historic landmark hotel, which is conveniently located within short walking distance to nice eateries and restaurants, as well as adorable shops in Sonora

This is a historic hotel in the heart of downtown Sonora. The decor is quirky but overall charming. Our air conditioner worked well until it started making screeching noise during the night. The breakfast is impressive with homemade cakes and a frittata and the coffee is good. Also the usual breakfast stuff like the waffle maker.

Very old fashion. Couple pieces of furniture were broken. Lamps did not work. Bedspread and pillow covers needed to get washed. Bathroom had prior people dirty towels in there. TV remote did not work.

The history of the hotel, as well as the location, was great. The gentleman who checked us in seemed to be in charge of everything, including breakfast, which was great. He was friendly and helpful. We would stay there again.

A really bad experience, nobody to be found in the reception area to check in. Took them more than an hour to start check in process for many people already waiting. Rooms are filthy, in really bad shape and stenchy. Pool area was a disaster with mold and dirt in the water. I decided to leave with NO reimbursement as they denied returning my money. !!!! HORRIBLE PLACE TO STAY !!!!

It was very comfortable and I felt like I went back in time. The staff were kind and helpful. The breakfast was prepared there in the hotel and was delicious. The pool was clean, and it was very affordable. I enjoyed the five day stay.

The room was old school, but it is a Historic hotel. It was dusty. Concierge was friendly but super busy. Power went out one night and cable was out for two nights. Fantastic bathroom. Nice pool. Great price.

Lovely location, perfect for attending concerts at Ironstone in Murphy’s. Cost was good. Breakfast was okay. Seems like staff is overwhelmed with the amount of work it takes to run a hotel in a busy tourist location and will do better when they can afford more staff to do non-essential things like cleaning the ac filters and replacing dead plants. I love the fact that they’re not a generic grey corporate motel.

This is a quirky 1850's building and has lots of charm. There are lots of stairs! Not great for old ladies who are challenged by them. The room was comfortable and quiet but the breakfast didn't have many options for lactose free restricted diet. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Super starters there was no television the whole time I stayed there number two the Wi-Fi barely worked number three the furniture was falling apart number four they had a community refrigerator we put food in there and then we couldn't get our food out they wouldn't come to the desk could ringing ringing ring or call him and they wouldn't come to the front all in all it was a horrible stay

The property has plenty of vintage charm and low prices. The staff was pleasant and check-in was a breeze. The bed was comfortable. However, the room we stayed in could use several repairs and paint. There were broken chairs and dead plants all around the property too. There was quite a bit of highway noise as well, which I suppose I should’ve just expected since it’s on a major thoroughfare. Also, the pool had not been treated in quite a while based on the algae build up. We skipped it on a very hot day. Lastly, one of our pillows had a dirty foot print on it. We are not very picky at all, especially when the price is right, but I thought others should know some of these details.

There were literally ants EVERYWHERE. Every morning I woke up and killed at least 30 of them. Upon check-in, the man working the front desk also asked a lot of extremely personal questions about my plans and whereabouts, all of which I did not answer as a early 20s young lady for OBVIOUS safety reasons. The pool was extremely murky water, I didn’t get in, and there were people that hung around the pool smoking every night and morning that I was present at the hotel.

Would not recommend this property. Rooms facing the street are extremely noisy, doors and windows have large gaps, Sheer curtains on the doors allow lighting from local Businesses to flood the room with light. Room was dirty under the bed and furnishings. Spider webs in the light fixtures. exposed raised nails on the floor and casework.
