When I booked our stay at Gingerhill, I had no idea what to expect outside of an experience that would be unlike the typical room and board my partner and I are accustomed to. I can honestly say that this may be one of the most special stays that we have had the pleasure of experiencing. Falling asleep to the sounds of the forest in the Jungle Canopy and cohabiting alongside nature allowed us to seclude and connect in between adventures on the island. A charming, intimate, and surprisingly comfortable stay, we will be returning to this special place and recommend it to anyone who is open to connecting with the beautiful nature of the island.

I loved my stay in the bamboo cabin at Gingerhill Farms! The staff was so sweet and helpful and the cabin suited my purposes perfectly. The grounds are a gorgeous lush forest full of fruit trees that is so lovely to walk around. I would recommend it to everyone who has an appreciation of nature and the outdoors :)

It's a very unique place to stay and you're truly surrounded by nature. At night the frogs and insects are loud and it rained one night we were there and that was very loud! It would have been nice to have a fan in the tent since it was very hot on our first night. Bathrooms, showers, and the kitchen were fairly close but it was a bit of a walk every time you need to go. We couldn't figure out where the main house or place where staff were was so we were mainly alone during our stay. The video they sent us on how to find our tent was helpful and necessary. It would also be helpful to provide a wheelbarrow or cart to help get luggage from the car to the tents. It is a bit of a walk carrying everything. Overall we enjoyed it as an adventure but we're glad it was only 2 nights.

Our stay at Gingerhill Farm Retreat was a unique and grounding experience. We stayed in the Bamboo cabin with an outdoor kitchen, shower, and sink, all supplied with propane and warm water, along with a clean compost toilet. The space was designed as an open lanai, allowing for natural cross-ventilation. We never needed the fan. The cabin was surrounded by lush vegetation, with the sounds of the jungle creating a vivid atmosphere at night and in the early morning. The common areas include a terrace overlooking the ocean beyond the tree line, offering beautiful sunset views. The staff was attentive and supportive throughout our stay. We also had the honor of meeting the owner, Ms. Mayumi Oda, often referred to as the “Matisse of Japan,” whose vision promotes healthy living and environmental awareness. This experience offered a rare balance between natural living and everyday comfort. It felt less like a stay and more like an immersion into a different way of being.
