ibis Styles Birmingham NEC and Airport

Our room was nice clean and warm and the staff were fine. The hotel is nicely close to the NEC. However the rest of the hotel seemed to be malfunctioning. The lifts were not working properly. The Fire exit had ‘DO NOT ENTER’ signs on. Other Fire Doors were propped open. We didn't sleep well partly because the beds were very hard and also we were nervous about the fire regulations being not adherd to and what other safety regulations might have been not working as they should. The key card wouldn't work for the gym. We were warned in advance that the hotel was being refurbished — however this was only a week before we arrived and by then it was too late to find another option. We wish that they had told us this BEFORE we booked there.

Public areas scruffy, just okay room

The Ibis lift at Birmingham International rail station was'nt working so had to carry luggage down 3 flights of stairs,directions to hotel well marked and not too long a walk to hotel. Check in staff very pleasant and helpful as were all the hotel staff. Our room was a disabled room,not quite sure why and was extremely cold,did warm up with heating control but went off when not in room so had to put it back on after we came back from dinner. Room clean but carpet very worn and beds comfortable. Only in room for a few hours as had early flight so bearable. Walked back to station in morning to catch air link to airport and luckily lift working!

The room was spotless, warm and spacious. The bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. The only problem was that there is a £15 parking fee which was not the shower had plenty of hot water

The room was clean but in a very bad state or repair. Stains on wall and water damage coming from the shower room.

Only issue was finding the hotel from the airport/train station! Otherwise. Excellent service and reasonably priced.

Rooms were clean, but beds were rock hard, we were only provided with 1 flat pillow each and requested for 2 more which we had to collect from reception an hour n half later, the rooms were too hot we had the air con on full and the window open (it’s even snowing outside) and we were still sweating. We have to leave the hotel at 6am for our flight and we haven’t managed to even get a minutes sleep despite being awake nearly 24 hours. The receptionist was super friendly however she was working alone on a really busy night hence the slow response to everything.

The room was fine but it was right next to a fire door that slammed every time someone went through it - it wouldn’t cost the world to add a soft closer to it!

This was a strange experience. Check in was fine. Plenty of space in the car park. The lifts work. Breakfast was great, as was the lovely lady working there. Then the room... Pros: it was big. The bathroom was great overall. Good shower. Clean. Large bed. Excellent blackout. Very quiet. Large TV with all the channels, albeit facing the window, not the bed. Cons: weird lino floor - no carpet. Barely any furniture: huge bed (booked a twin but got a king - not a big deal as I was travelling with my daughter but could be awkward for some) but no bedside tables?! One side had a weird over-bed table thing but the other person had to put all their stuff on the floor. No storage, apart from about 5 hangers. Not a drawer, not a cupboard (apart from the empty fridge cupboard which had no shelves in it, just a hole), not even a desk or surface of any kind on which to put your stuff. We just had to leave all our bags and cases open on the floor. No chair. Stingy with the coffee/milk sachets and my daughter was outraged by the lack of biscuits which she's come to expect from other chains! The pillows - one tiny pillow each. Thank goodness we'd brought our own just in case. Hot as a furnace when we arrived (it was December) and it took a lot of effort to work out how to get this under control without the fans blowing a gale. Overall - booked it because it was cheap. I now know why. Great value for a room including breakfast, but under no circumstances would I stay here again.

Room was lovely, quiet and the bed was very comfortable would definitely stay again. Although please be careful on arrival as I went to the ibis across the road and have now been fined £100 as I went it to find out where the car park was. They had a lay by that clearly stated guest drop off and I was drooling my bag off. Not happy!

First floor rooms smaller, but good for budget price. Food is very good, breakfast buffet has great choice; continental and english mixed, very wide choice. Friendly staff and quiet atmosphere...

Mid return on second floor , more than misleading to state it’s an 11 minute walk to resorts world!!
