Kirinuga ECO Boutique Retreat

Our stay at Kirinuga was truly special and exceeded all our expectations. From the very first moment, we felt genuinely welcomed and cared for. The atmosphere is warm, relaxed and deeply personal. It never felt like a typical hotel stay, but more like being invited into someone’s beautiful home. Renate is an exceptional host: kind, attentive and incredibly thoughtful. You can feel the passion and love that has gone into every detail of this retreat. The rooms are absolutely spotless, not just “clean for Sri Lanka,” but honestly on a German level of cleanliness. Everything is beautifully maintained and designed with great taste. Breakfast was outstanding every morning – fresh, high-quality and prepared with care. On one of the days Renate was away, her friend Florian looked after the retreat, and we had such a great time with him as well. He’s a funny and easygoing Bavarian guy with a great sense of humor, and we really enjoyed the relaxed conversations and good vibes. It added such a personal and authentic touch to our stay and made the whole experience even more memorable. We also loved the personal touch in everything, including the surf lesson Renate recommended, which turned out to be a 10/10 experience. Everything was perfectly organized and effortless. Kirinuga is not just a place to stay. It’s a place where you truly feel comfortable, relaxed and valued as a guest. One of the most heartfelt and enjoyable stays we’ve ever had.

The location is gorgeous, one of the prettiest hotels we have stayed in! Minutes away by walk from the beach, and the breakfast and staff were amazing!

Although mentioned and we were aware there would be no airco, one of the nights was very warm even with the fan. Probably an airco would have made the stay even better!

Very beautiful hotel with stunning décor, carefully designed with great taste. The place is charming and pleasant. The food is of very high quality — we ate extremely well throughout our stay. A special mention as well for the gentleman who works at the hotel, who is very kind, helpful, and attentive.

A few points could however be improved in order to better match the room rate. Breakfast is served from 8:15 a.m., which can feel a bit late when you want to leave early and make the most of your day. On the morning of our departure, we left at 7:30 a.m. and therefore could not have breakfast, nor even a coffee, which was a little disappointing. On our last dinner, a much-appreciated commercial gesture was made on the fish. However, the price of some side dishes, such as the fries, seemed slightly high compared to the quantities served. Regarding hot water, it did not work for a large part of our stay. We were eventually able to have hot water on the last day, after requesting it from the owner. On the day of departure, with a late flight, it was not possible to take a hot shower and we had to wash in the garden, which may come as a surprise for a hotel charging €100 per night.

The garden was amazing.

The description does not reflect reality. The distance to the sea is stated incorrectly. The bed is uncomfortable, the bedding is of poor quality, and there is no air conditioning.
