The owner raised his voice at me, and I waited four hours for a scheduled van transfer.
The incident started when I politely clarified the terms of our car rental agreement with the front desk, who I later assumed is the owner’s daughter. Instead of addressing the concern professionally, the owner called his daughter and spoke to me in an unnecessarily raised tone, saying:
“Sir! Ganito kasi ’yan, natataranta kasi yung mga tao diyan eh.”
This was said despite the fact that I asked calmly and with a smile. For fairness, I gave the benefit of the doubt, as I overheard that the front desk was also doing her homework at the time and seemed stressed.
To check if I had done anything wrong, I consulted someone with experience in the hospitality industry both locally and internationally. After looking into it, she found several reviews citing similar issues regarding the owner’s attitude.
I chose to let the incident go. However, the next day, I booked a 5:00 AM van transfer. The owner reminded me to be ready one hour before and after the scheduled time. Despite this, I only boarded the van at around 9:00 AM because they thought the booking was for the next day. Whether this was an honest mistake or related to the previous night’s incident, I honestly don’t know.
That said, I would still like to commend the daytime front desk staff, the night guard, and their helper. They were all kind, welcoming, and professional.
Wherever I go, I make it a point to treat staff and personnel with respect. Unfortunately, the same level of professionalism was not consistently reflected in the management
