    We booked President Hotel for a special 80th Birthday surprise, 15 of our friends also booked in. Badly let down, hotel failed abysmally in providing anything., although they had stated they could provide a birthday package it never came to fruition, they gave me a price but I couldn't get them to take the payment ?? Call themselves a budget hotel, soon to be a bankrupt hotel if they refuse business like this , the management was a shambles Restaurant meal was very poor, as was the breakfast. Not cheap for what was offered and poor quality food. Our room had cleaning issues. Workmen and scaffolding outside our window which was filthy. The bar had. no draught beer and no ice. One of our friends asked for tea bags for his room and was told don't think we have any?? Food in the dining room was scarce, had to keep asking for food to be brought out, it was supposed to be a carvery there was nothing out. Breakfast was the same had to ask for bread for the toaster, and there was hot water but no tea coffee or milk. Dirty plates were not cleared from table. Serious training issues need to be addressed. Concerns around food hygiene. The entertainment was a joke. We will certainly not be returning to this hotel and neither would any of our friends. I would advise people to give this one a miss.

    Hotel needs tlc games room machines all broken pallet left against table tennis needs moving basic health and safety just needs picking up and moving to somewhere safe it only takes a minute 😞 lounge bar not operating no draught beers lights off no staff to serve outside chairs and tables in disarray,five minutes to tidy up .so a little management would go a long way because the dining area was as good as you could hope for food is great staff though few are super 5 star room was fine clean and comfortable at the bargain price paid the hotel is good but at the same hotel it can cost considerably more at that price point the shortcomings would make this a very disappointing visit. A little proactive management with little cost could easily take care of many issues get the pool table fixed and air hockey plus leave some lights on in the lounge bar

    I had a great one night stopover at the President on 21st July 2026. I was attending a football game and needed accomodation for one night. The staff were very helpful in every aspect. The room had recently been painted and was clean and tidy. The buffet breakfast was superb and set me up for my journey back to York by train .It's not often that you get fried bread these days so it was great to see it on the breakfast hotplate. The only adverse criticism I have is that my room smelt of nicotine as someone had obviously been smoking in it. Would it stop me from going again ? Certainly not. It must be a very difficult thing to police. Overall the hotel was great value for money . I will be returning. Thank you to all the staff at the President.

    Only stayed 1 night as1child has autism an other downfall needs, I booked sea view as stated on booking reference, No sea view unfortunately for me , my view out the window was not the best and the dirty nappy didn't help on the roof outdide. Roomwas a good size, beds comfortable and bedding spotless but the cleanliness of the room very low,. Television was covered in dust and as I went to move it, my hand were covered in dirt and dust. Behind the bed side cabinet was super wrappers and dust, plugs and fitting had not seen clean in I don't know how long. Rips in the net curtains, main curtains half hanging of the railway the hooks were missing. Shower cubicle had mold , now you can buy a bottle of mold spray for less than £2. Soap holder dirty and rusty. The only reason I never left was the2children with Autism would have got to upset to move again. So wash was with wipes until we got home. The breakfast was really good and the staff were really nice , suggestion - housekeeper needs a serious speaking to, or changing. Television would have been better on a pivot so it could be viewed from the beds
