Julia’s Cabanas was a convenient spot, located on the beach and near lots of small shops, bars, and restaurants. We loved the ocean view and the spent many days in the hammock on the porch. Shelly and Ty were very friendly and helpful, making sure we had everything we needed during our stay. Would definitely recommend as an affordable option that is centrally located on the south part of the island. The rooms are not glamorous, but have all your basic needs. The bed was comfy, the fridge was cold, and the AC worked great.

Bar next door cranks music up about 7 and gos till midnight loud enough to thump the walls didn’t relate this to us till after we booked with no refunds moved us was better but went to use microwave and it was disgusting old food from who knows when scheduled pickup for airport no show just saying

The location was incredible and the staff were friendly and incredibly accomodating. A chair in my room needed to be replaced and the TV was not fully installed yet, but neither of those things detracted from the experience in any meaningful way. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone traveling to Placencia.

The pictures online are very well staged. People call it "rustic" I call it "old." The fan didn’t work and the manager quickly brought us a replacement. I did enjoy that they had chairs for the beach and everything around was very close and easy to get to walking. Our one complaint is that we had to kill like 5-8 cockroaches (waterbugs the big ones).

Amazing location in the middle of everything. Bring earplugs because the barefoot bar is right next door… We stayed in a simple clean cabana right on the beach! Can’t beat the view. Super friendly staff :)

If your on a budget this property is for you as long as you can put up with the loud music coming from the neighbour . The property is well kept and clean , management is friendly and responsive . You are right on the beautiful beach so bring lots of sunscreen ! 😎

Rundown shack on the beach. I realize this was a budget hotel; however, it didn't have even basic amenities I would expect from a motel 6. No electrical outlets in the bathroom, only 1 lightbulb in the cabana for light and weak WIFI. it also had water-stained ceilings and was in poor condition overall. Also, the WIFI in the cabana was very weak. I checked out early due to the condition of the cabana and the noise from the two bars next to the hotel. Never again. Spend a little more money to stay in a real hotel.

The property manager was lovely and made sure we were comfortable and taken care of at all times. Very sweet traditional style cabanas with a small kitchenette, air conditioning (a must), and shower. Fresh water tubs with a fresh habiscus flower each day to wash the sand off of your feet. Our room was compact and comfortable. Nice beachfront a few steps away for sunrise in the morning. Placencia beaches are not the most swimmable. Nice walking area with shops and restaurants that feature local fare. We enjoyed the live entertainment at the restaurants next door. Overall, very nice and a good value.

All of the staff here are friendly and helpful as could be. The AC in the room worked great (and was quite necessary with the heat) and the fan on the terrace was a nice feature as well. Some people don't like the noise from the Barefoot Bar next door, but with the AC on at night we could barely hear anything from there. Plus, we go to the Barefoot every night anyway so being within easy stumbling distance was nice. The facilities are in need of some repair. For instance, the water heater was nonfunctional for several days, our kitchenette faucet sprayed water everywhere when turned on, and the springs were about to burst out of our mattress. The first two problems were eventually resolved but we had to make do with the mattress. But, the prices are also quite low for Placencia so I guess you get what you pay for.

Pros - The staff was very courteous, helpful, and friendly. Two of the cabanas face directly onto the beach, the rest are only steps away. They have an onsite laundry. The bed was surprisingly comfortable. Cons - Granted I only saw one cabana, the one I stayed in. But if it was any example, then this place is a dump. While they have a prime location on the beach, and the exterior of the cabanas look nice, the interior was terrible! At some point they removed an interior wall...the groove in the floor where the wall stood was partially filled in with crooked, misaligned and mismatched tiles, and the rest was filled in with concrete. The bathroom and kitchen "cabinets" were built of 2x4 studs, and they were not stained or painted, just bare wood. The bathroom and shower was in disrepair, the toilet rocked on its base. IMO, the owners are taking their profit and not even trying to invest any money into making improvements. That is certainly their perogative. With the prime oceanside location, if they would fix the place up, they could probably ask more money. As it is now...go stay somewhere else. This place is cheap...and it's cheap. There are much better options in town, even on the beach, for not much more money. The only way I would stay here again is if there was nothing else available. Seriously folks...show some pride in your property and fix it up.

Julia’s is a great spot. However it’s not for everyone. The bar Nextdoor has music every night. It didn’t bother me but be aware. The rooms could use some updating. Shelly the on sight manager couldn’t have been nicer. Julia’s is in the middle of the village, which makes it great for walking. I will be going back

Shelley was a great help for us. Answered all my questions and was very curtious. The cabana was a bit on the older side but everything works great. The beach and around our cabanas was swept and cleaned everyday! Even though we were right beside the Barefoot Bar and Tipsy Tuna we had no problem falling asleep at 9 pm! I did use my ear plugs for Saturday night but more of a precaution. If you are a light sleeper than ear plugs would be useful. Thanks again Shelley and Anna. Loved the extra decorating touchs. 😍

Love Julia's, not the bars next door! We wanted so much to love our stay at Julia's! Shelly was simply amazing during our booking, and went beyond expectation when I realized I had booked one night short during our stay and helped us figure that out - thank you, Shelly! The cabana is as advertised, very no-frills, and our cabana (I believe #5) was right on the beach, which for the price can't be beat. But do not underestimate the near constant noise from the bars next door. The music starts up before noon and it IS the soundtrack to your time there. You can't get away from it. Around dinner time they turn up the volume until around midnight or later, and no amount of earplugs or white noise allowed me to drown out the constant bass beat, and we were not in a cabana directly next door to the bar. Then, on Christmas Eve, a band loaded in to the bar and during their soundcheck that afternoon, our entire cabana was being shaken by the volume of the music, and learned the party was going to last until 1 or 2 in the morning. We bailed and found a resort near Maya Beach that had space for the rest of our stay. I'm glad we had a few nights at Julia's - the staff is just amazing and the location other than the bar noise is fantastic, but you really have to be ready to have some version of reggae coming at you strong at almost all hours, if not literally rocking your world. Wonderful to be in the middle of the Village, access to everything you need....except a little peace and quiet.

I loved the location of Julia's Cabanas, and also cabana #6 which we stayed in. The cabanas are pretty basic, but also had all things needed such as air conditioning, refrigerator, etc. Shelly was fantastic and helped with anything needed - she's a true asset to the property !! One thing that would be great is if they had more comfortable lounge chairs on the beach and or some nice cushions to make the lounge chairs more comfortable.

I thought Shelly was the best always there to help you! Thank goodness for her. I loved that the cabanas are on the beach and that there is A security guard on 24 hours a day. But what I didn’t like was only one lawn chair worked all were broken hard to lay on the beach without a decent chair to lay on. Towels were old and not nice. Thanks to Shelly for making my stay great!!

The host Shelly was amazing! She looked out for me and made sure that I had a great stay. Shelly helped me with my travel arrangements and encouraged me to rent a golf cart and drive around Maya Beach and the village. This was my second time in Placencia and Shelly helped me to feel like Belize could be my retirement place. Thank you Shelly you are special!
