I stayed here twice and the first time was awesome. Great staff, clean rooms, nice pool and nice breakfast.
The second time the cable was out. It was a bummer since I just wanted to relax in the room. Everything else was still great

Best Value Hotel in SLO
The Sands Inn & Suites is easily one of the best-value hotels in San Luis Obispo. The rooms are comfortable and well-maintained, the breakfast was great, and the customer service was excellent throughout my stay.
The hotel is conveniently located near a gas station and is only about a 5–10-minute drive from downtown SLO. That was perfectly fine by me, but anyone hoping to walk downtown should take the distance into consideration.
My only suggestion is that bidets really should be standard in hotel rooms by now—they’re inexpensive, easy to install, and make a big difference.
One warning for fellow car enthusiasts: the speed bump at the entrance is fairly aggressive. My lowered Miata rubbed going over it, so approach carefully if your car has limited ground clearance.
Overall, a great stay for the price, and I would happily return.

Facilities are on their last legs, plumbing is slow, rooms and pool area are dirty and unkempt. They ran out of clean towels for the pool and had loud construction going right next door to the breakfast room. Not what we were expecting for the price and star rating
