Tenterfield Tavern and Motor Inn

Location is perfect with it being on the northern end of town, but easy walking distance of the main street with the places to see in it. Room was nice and clean, staff in the Tavern were friendly and helpful. Check-in is actually done in the bottleshop. Read reviews complaining about the smell of cigarettes from the Tavern's smoking area, but honestly you are far enough away not to smell it......unless you have the nose of a bloodhound! Our only complaint is that it advertises free breakfast, and being a Tavern we just assummed it would be a buffett/hot breakfast in the restaurant, but it was just actually bread/spreads/cereals in the room. This was a bit disappointing as on a cold winters morning a nice hot meal would certainly be a better option.

Tenterfield was the first overnight stay for the road trip my partner and I had planned. The establishment was easy to find, rooms were clean with undercover parking in front of the room. Meals at the pub were amazing, friendly staff and most importantly the beer was cold. We would definitely stay here again.

Horrible experience, Stayed over the long weekend with our kids, had booked a room for 4 but only 2 beds and a small couch, realised I had booked a triple room but was allowed to sleep 4. When I went back to ask if I could upgrade (happy to pay extra) to a room with an extra bed was told there wasn’t one available for our length of stay, poor young guy on reception/bottle shop was trying his best until another young girl (black hair) came in yelling for him to hurry up in front of everyone so I assumed that was a no. Hotel is in a ok location town wise because there is only one Main Street but situated right behind a pub which was super loud until midnight & rooms backs onto the smokers area. We stayed 4 nights, 2 of the nights our designated car park (which is literally right outside our room with our room number on it) and under cover was taken by hotel staff and other pub goers. After hours of a car parked in our spot I asked the cleaner & pub staff if they knew who’s car it was but was met with “I’m not sure” only to walk out and see one of the staff moving the car that was parked in our spot. I mentioned to him that there are so many other parks can he not park there!! Only for the hotel manager (big tall bald guy & angry black haired girl) to run out and have a go at me for telling his staff off for parking there! Seems menial but was the second time in two days and we have valuables in the back of our ute so didn’t want it parked where we couldn’t see it! Plus our designated car spot was undercover out of the heat no wonder the staff parked there. I had to go back up and have a proper conversation with the manager rather than a screaming match in the carpark. No apology no explanation just a “if you come for dinner I’ll give you a free drink” Pub food was blow average takes for ever and was horrible In comparison to what is available in town better off staying at the royal, the commercial or the Henry parks motel we have stayed at all of them and a million times better than this joint! One positive is there is a lovely elderly lady that cleans the rooms was super friendly and made the visit some what ok. All in all couldn’t pay me enough to stay at this place again!
