Food was great, convenience store was nice, pool and amenities were amazing. Definitely need a rental car though.

The facilities at Hiyori are excellent and far above the expected level. Rooms are spacious and well-equipped with a kitchen, cooking utensils, microwave, fridge, washing machine with dryer, and cleaning supplies. The hotel also offers a public bath, steam room, and a clean gym — all of which make the stay very comfortable. Unfortunately, the location is isolated. There is no private beach, no nearby restaurants or convenience stores, and even the closest shop (600 meters away) is inaccessible by foot due to the lack of walking paths. Without a car, guests must rely on taxis. The main DISAPPOINTMENTS lies with the staff and service quality: - Check-in inefficiency: Upon arrival at 13:30, a staff member took our passports and kept them for about 10 minutes, even though check-in was not yet possible. This wasted our time unnecessarily. Later, he asked if we wanted to pay extra for early check-in — despite the room being ready by 14:30 ( just one hour gap) We felt wired as we travelled a lot but never greeted by this way. When we returned at 14.30, we found the same guy but he avoided us and went to serve another guest instead due to the language barrier. Another staff member checked us in without the welcome drinks offered to Japanese guests. Directions to facilities were incomplete, causing confusion and issues later. We can see easily this staff just wanted to send us away as quickly as she can. - Language barrier and avoidance: Staff have very limited English skills. They can use the translation app but for us, they often avoid using this way. Instead of trying to communicate, they frequently withdrew, leaving us feeling ignored rather than assisted. - Public bath access confusion: Because staff failed to explain the correct elevator (they have anther one to the bath directly), we mistakenly used the wrong one. This led to embarrassment when a female staff member criticized me for wearing bath clothes in the wrong area. The criticism was deeply frustrating because the mistake was caused entirely by their poor guidance. I felt singled out and humiliated and I tried to explain the situation, the lady didn't understand me! We are not not-educated people, the staff need to understand there should be some reasons behind this! - Shuttle service mismanagement: The hotel offers a shuttle to Moon Beach, but staff did not inform us at check-in. When we asked, they gave vague answers and didn't tell us the the shuttle bus service finishes. When we came to the reception at 17.30 to order the bus, one staff member spent 10 minutes checking the information book to explain charges for facilities I never intended to use, instead of simply asking me what I needed. In the end, she told me the shuttle was unavailable because the beach closed at 17:00 — only for the manager the next day to clarify that the shuttle actually runs until 18:00. We eventually took taxi to the beach. It's so disappointing! This wasted our time and highlighted how unfamiliar staff are with basic hotel services. - Overall service quality: Staff are very young, inexperienced, and lack initiative. They do not proactively share important information, and their approach to international guests feels dismissive compared to the warm, attentive service provided to Japanese guests. The difference in treatment was obvious and disappointing. Summary Hiyori has outstanding facilities but fails to deliver a welcoming experience for international travelers. The staff’s poor English, lack of training, avoidance of communication, and unwillingness to engage with non-Japanese guests waste the potential of the hotel’s excellent design. If the hotel intends to market internationally through platforms like Agoda or Booking.com, it must invest in staff training, language support, and professional service standards. For now, I would not recommend this hotel to international travelers without a car, and I would not choose it again for future visits to Naha.
