We spent 2 nights at the Green Hotel in Tällberg and found it lovely. We were in the farther 2-story motel-style building (meaning each room had a door to the outside), and the rooms were simple but nicely furnished, with beautiful views of the lake in the distance, even from the first floor. (The simple bistro table & folding chairs out front were lovely for viewing the late sunset). The dining room was traditional, with a delicious set-menu dinner (we had smoked trout appetizer, venison and potatoes with a red wine gravy, and a panna cotta with rhubarb compote) and more gorgeous views of Lake Siljan. The downstairs/indoor pool area was a little dated (with a taxidermied bear overlooking the pool!!), but in keeping with the 1940s dark wood ski chalet style, and plenty of families were having an informal, relaxed time with the pool and wooden ping pong table. The outdoor pool looked lovely though a bit cool. Everyone on staff was exceedingly friendly — waitresses wore traditional Swedish outfits, and the waitstaff brought out sparklers and sang a festive cheer for someone’s birthday in the dining room. Morning buffet was vast with options and delicious too! We would absolutely come again with family.

There is no way to top the setting and view, so lovely! Great breakfast, fabulous rooms and I was especially surprised by the gym. I’ve come to expect very mediocre facilities at hotels, this was a fantastic exception. We loved Dalarna, especially for the Green Hotel as our point of departure.

Super cozy. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Free parking. The surrounding Dalarna area is a wonderland. Will definitely come back one day.
