Lovely hotel in a nice setting.Friendly check in and check out Amazing breakfast and on the whole enjoyed our stay. 3 sour points....refused a drink at 10pm despite advertising as open till 11...disturbed at 2pm,drunken guests trying doors as obviously couldnt find their room...bathroom had occasional stench,possible drainage problem.....

Quirky room, really comfy bed, clean, value for money, friendly staff, fab breakfast, good pub, lovely beer garden. Would definitely recommend and stay again

Our fourth stay at this lovely hotel. The room was just the right size, big comfortable bed. Pillows could have been better, they were small & flat. We didn’t realise until the morning that shower gel/shampoo were missing and the bath plug did not have a rubber seal. We had Sunday lunch and breakfast in the restaurant. All food hot and tasty.

We have stayed twice before and were given the room with the double baths again which sadly we didn’t have time to take advantage of. The room is spacious with a big four poster bed. There was a great fan provided which helped greatly with the warm weather. Breakfast was great but there was quite a delay between ordering and receiving our food. The food was hot and delicious though.

The lovely lady at check in was amazing. Super friendly and got us checked in very quickly. It was a concert night so the bar was busy but the guys behind it were friendly and fast. The room had a fab roll top bath and a bureau. Really different but we loved it. The lady server at breakfast was unhappy though and couldn't hide it.

Nice room not the fan provided was not powerful enough to cool it down

Really lovely stay, but the rooms aren't really equipped to deal with hot weather unfortunately. Only one window opened slightly and it was so hot there wasn't

I would highly recommend to stay here. I enjoyed the quirky decor and was very clean and comfortable. I was suprised to find I had a bath in my room but no shower but made a change! The room was in the attic so very hot but once I'd turned off the radiator, opened the windows and staff found me a fan it was ok.Good breakfast and would return when next in the area.

This rustic hotel room was just what I needed for a relaxing stay. It had a warm, cozy feel with wooden furniture and soft lighting. Everything was clean and comfortable, and the bed was great for a good night’s sleep. The vibe was super chilled—quiet, peaceful, and perfect for getting away from the noise. If you’re looking to unwind in a calm, rustic setting, this place is perfect.

Lady Receptionist excellent, food similar, room spacious (Room 4) only issue next to customer toilet with a very noisy hand dryer……the hotel was empty so personally would have allocated a different room….

Food was amazing, staff were friendly, room was comfortable and luxurious. Absolutley perfect.

Perfect for a short romantic weekend getaway away from home. Everything about this place is spot on - atmosphere, food, service, music, except for the bed mattress which is really not what you would expect.

Very enjoyable good location, 15 min walk to central Edinburgh. Stayed in the Georgian suite, very nice. Parking outside on rings app, as in most of Edinburgh it is costly.

We visited for Valentine’s Day and had a meal in the evening which we pre-booked through the hotel website. The check in was friendly with advice on evacuation points, out of hours code etc. The room was warm and welcoming with a super soft bed, which I worried would irritate my back, but slept like a log! The facilities, staff, location and food were all lovely and we look forward to returning

Probably in need of a refurb but room was clean and comfortable, restaurant was quite nice with a reasonable menu and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Would stay again

Loved the roll top bath in the room. Bar snacks were lovely and a good price.

Only reason for 4 stars is that the shower could have done with a new or really descaled showerhead to get best pressure and the mattress could have done with changing. I would encourage houskeeping to lie on mattresses to check for scalloping every now and again :-) ! Great pub hotel though with a fantastic team. Really enjoyed and would definitely return!

I stayed here with a group of friends for 3 weekday nights. The bedrooms were all of a decent size and, like the whole establishment, decorated in a rustic style with mostly recycled items. Whilst my room came with most of the usual extras (tea making, bathroom toiletries etc), it had just plain floor boards with no carpet, there was no bedside table, no chair other than a stool, only one electrical socket by the bed and no clothes hangers in the wardrobe. There were extra sockets by the desk. The king sized bed was extremely comfortable. There was no separate door to the bathroom although the toilet was separated by a frosted glass screen and door. The shower in bath provided ample hot water, but there was no handrail or anti-slip mat provided. The bar and restaurant areas were very nice although some seats were over crowded with big fat cushions. Other than Friday night, the place was very quiet. Whilst the food in the restaurant was very good and value for money, the prices at the bar were extremely high (draft beer £6+ per pint). As far as I could see, the only public toilets were upstairs. There was an extensive seating area outside, some was covered. The smallish car park had a fairly tight entrance, but included 3 electrical charging points. There was street parking, free overnight but expensive during the day. The staff were polite and friendly. Whilst it’s a generally nice and interesting hotel, there are too many negatives for me to stay here again.

Absolutely fabulous, i was given a coach house room which I initially disappointed but wow, a lovely room, warm, roll top bath, food was amazing and fantastic ingredients, lovely bed and pillows, an all around great experience

The only great thing about the hotel was the staff with particular thanks to the receptionist called Eghleah who went out of her way to provide with an acceptable room. The rooms are nothing like the photos on Expedia, far from it. The noise from the bar and dining room prevents any chance of sleep until way after the bar closes. The tiling in the shower had a big hole surrounding the mixer taps, never seen anything quite like it. Not ideal for a restful or relaxing stay!!

We stayed there earlier this year, and decided to go back this weekend for our anniversary... Room cold, sorted out eventually with a portable heater. My breakfast was awful, cold, even when reheated. I'm coeliac, so limited but our last stay it washed lovely, this stay inedible

Good location in Bedford town and a good breakfast, with options. For me I did not really like the open bath in the room, there was no air con, but the room has a good temperature and great view, the staff were helpful, especially the night security guard. No complaints really recommended.
