Hood River Hotel

It started off a bit rough. The room was hot, the information said “has AC”. Asked front desk, they set the temperature, not us. They finally agreed to change rooms to one with working AC. Parking was down a hill and a block away. Tried to pull up in front of hotel to unload, a mail truck was in their loading zone. We had to park down the street to unload, thank goodness they had 1 cart.

The room was very small and access to the bathroom very cumbersome. The bathroom was too cramped and the carpet had lots of stains. Parking is very inconvenient and not safe. The beds were clean and reasonable comfortable.

Love the location and charm! Front desk was super busy and not very welcoming :(

Classic hotel, excellent updates. It's still a 1912 building, but everything works and it's clean. Great breakfast at Broder Ost, great location.

Clean room, comfy bed, weird slant of floor, smells like ghosts, parking is terrible, open window is the only air, street was noisy. Interesting for one visit.

This had the potential to be a charming property, but the way that it presented itself in photographs was not how it really was!! It is a very old building and the hallways and rooms were actually slanted and this was very disconcerting. It was a huge step down from the bathroom to the sleeping room, which was hard to navigate at night. After a day of hiking outdoors, there was no hot water for a shower and one of us took a barely lukewarm shower and the one who wanted a hot bath just skipped it. There was a desk chair that was made out of metal lattice and was so uncomfortable to sit on that it was unusable, and the padded chair was offkilter and slanted. The elevator was probably 100 years old and the brass accordion door tended to slam on you while you were trying to get in and out. Otherwise, comfortable beds, OK pillows, not really enough blankets for a fairly drafty room. Again, if websitehad not created such highexpectations, we might not have felt as bad about the facilities, except not having hot water is kind of inexcusable. Also, regarding check-in when we arrived at the place, the desk clerk was gone, and there was no sign up, and there were several parties waiting to check in, and we were all ready to call the police when she finally reappeared after a “break”.

Tara was great. Place was disappointing. The parking situation is rediculous. Really. What a joke. It’s an old building with an ancient elevator. Room was not worth the money. The inconvenience of parking makes it very undesirable. We were never offered our VIP perks. I had to ask in the morning of the water was complimentary. As I said. Tara upon check was wonderful. The only good thing there.

Love the historic hotel feel! Super friendly staff. Amazing location right in downtown. Just a bit noisy for us even with ear plugs for sleeping.

The hotel was wonderful, beautifully decorated. Our room was clean comfortable and nicely decorated. The staff was so friendly and helpful. My husband said he looks forward to us staying again.

Great stay at the Hood River Inn! Comfy rooms and an unbeatable location right in the heart of Hood River. Parking is slightly expensive. Can’t wait to come back.

The building is a historic landmark and very interesting. However, the TV did not work and one of the light fixtures also did not work. The TV problem was resolved but took 3 hours and multiple entrances from staff, which was invasive to relaxing after a 3 day rafting trip...we just wanted rest and to get clean!!! Unfortunately, the lighting problem was never resolved. I was told a manager would contact me and "perhaps" offer me a discount; neither of which happened. The bathroom entrance was inconveniently located behind one of the beds with minimal clearance (12"at best) and you had to step up to get into it. Very uncomfortable. The carpet was stained and so was the only comfortable chair, yuck! Additionally, the loading zone was ONE space and had a military of 30 minutes and was occupied, so we had to carry our luggage UPHILL to get it to the hotel. Also, the parking description, said "parking available" which really meant "you can pay to park in the public lot down the hill for $15 dollars a night" which was not comped at all. Very poor description and not at all what I was expecting. I booked this hotel because my 4th grader studied pioneer history last year and I thought she would find it educational. However, the educational aspect of it did not come close to outweighing all of the problems and mistruths the hotel broadcasted about the property in their description. Historic should not mean "nothing works with crappy service". WILL NOT STAY HERE EVER AGAIN.

We did not enjoy our stay. When we checked in the desk clerk almost seemed put out that he had to pause his phone conversation. Parking was a hassle, the room smelled kind of strange, the restaurant was closed and we just didn’t care for the property. Even though this property was not our cup of tea, the atmosphere that was intended was well accomplished. It is a renovated older building with old time charm. They nailed that perfectly. We just won’t be staying here again.

Unique hotel and we love that it’s like going back in time

Cool historic property, nice amenities, free drinks at check in, and a delicious restaurant on the main floor! Excellent location. Would stay again!

Tara at the front desk was wonderful! Very friendly and helpful both at check-in and the following morning for checkout. My room was great. I liked that I could open the windows or have the air conditioning on. Also, everything was very clean – I would definitely stay there again.

Loved the room and staff

The hotel lobby is lovely and the Broder restaurants are some of my favorite. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and eager to hand out dog treats. The rooms are charming but not in great condition. The carpet is frayed, walls are damaged and need a repaint, and the tile grout in the shower was moldy. It feels like the property is leaning into “historic” to justify a lack of upkeep.

Lovely place to stay. The train runs all night but they offer earplugs. Very conveniently located for town strolls.

I got a ticket for parking in the street. But, I paid the street parking fee for 24 hours.

Loved the ambience of this historic hotel. Would stay here again.

I enjoyed my stay. The only negative thing was there was quite a lot of outside noise from the highway and train. And parking can be an issue because there is no hotel only parking. The bed was comfortable and the decor went with the age of the hotel.
