    am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding my recent stay at best western plus Winnipeg airport hotel from may 22 to may24. Unfortunately, my experience was highly distressing due to a severe lack of security and a failure to disclose the current operational status of the property. Upon arrival, it became clear that the hotel is currently participating in an emergency housing/shelter program. While I understand and respect the need for community support initiatives, guests paying standard tourism rates should be notified of major operational shifts prior to booking. More importantly, the hotel failed to maintain an environment that felt secure for standard guests. Because the hotel did not disclose these circumstances beforehand, I was unable to make an informed decision about my accommodations. Due to the lack of oversight and the compromised sense of safety, I did not receive the standard of hospitality or peace of mind I paid for.

    There are securities in every floor, that says something. The beddings are not changed, the floor is dirty. Staff tried their best and they’re friendly but the hotel accepted guests who are intoxicated and posted risks for other travelers. I couldn’t sleep at night and was constantly waken up by people yelling, getting inside the elevator with other intoxicated individuals also made me feel unsafe with my belongings with me

    I checked in during my recent 2 night stay. One night a woman alone and I had my child the second night. The hotel was fine. There were groups of people gathered in groups of 5-7 outside the hotel and within the lobby. I was intimidated to walk past and through them and they watched me as I walked past and made comments under their breath to one another. A group got off the elevator and two of the men were kind of shoving at one another with a woman trying to intervene. I put my stuff in the room and left and attempted to voice my safety concerns in the contact us section of the app. I was continually put on hold. I realized my booking was non refundable. I have used the app a number of times and I don’t believe it said that when I booked. I was repeated told they were working on it but would go an hour with no reply. I eventually went back to the room and then realized I needed a charger from my car. I had one of the many security people walk me there and I said I felt unsafe due to the clientele and them being gathered in numbers. He said “I know”. I have never requested a security escort in my life. The next morning I started with the customer service in the app again. They told me they were taking my safety concerns very seriously and would respond within 72 hours. I let them know that was not helpful for a stay that night. They apologized and said they were prioritizing my concern. I never heard anything else. I checked out yesterday am. Still nothing. My child did come. We didn’t try to utilize the pool or any other facilities as I was concerned for our safety
