Honestly, I'm not sure why some reviewers criticize this place so much. It isn't perfect, but it is much better than many reviews suggest. Before booking, I was a bit unsure after reading other people's experiences, but I'm really glad I chose to stay here. The hotel is located in a relatively quiet residential area with mostly low-rise buildings of around 5 floors. In the same building you'll find several restaurants, a barber, and a Kaufland supermarket. A Lidl and Netto are only a few streets away, so it's easy to buy groceries or anything else you might need during a longer stay. The hotel uses a traditional key system, so you receive a physical room key instead of a card or code. Many parts of the hotel feel a little frozen in time. I don't consider that a negative-in fact, I quite liked the atmosphere-but it's something to keep in mind because it won't match everyone's taste. To me, this place felt like something between a classic hotel with a 24/7 reception and a modern aparthotel. I didn't see the standard rooms, but my studio apartment definitely had an aparthotel feel while offering noticeably more space than most aparthotels I've stayed in. One unusual feature was the large wardrobe in the entrance hallway. Behind its doors was a hidden kitchenette with a sink, electric stove, extractor hood, and fridge. The only thing missing was dishes and cutlery, although you can borrow them by paying a 15 refundable deposit. My room included a large mirror, a very spacious desk, a TV, a wardrobe with a small safe inside, a comfortable bed, a bedside table, and an armchair. Most of the furniture looked like it came from what was considered a premium hotel in the early 1990s. I'm not sure if it dates back to when the hotel first opened, but it certainly gives that impression. Some things clearly show their age-for example, the sheer curtains looked very worn, and a few of the pillows had also seen plenty of use. On the other hand, the room was clean enough for my expectations, and the hotel provides plenty of pillows. The hotel advertises breakfast in the main corridor, and if you didn't book it in advance, you can purchase it at reception. I tried it once because I didn't have time on the other mornings. For 10, I think it offers good value compared to similar hotel breakfasts. If I understood correctly, the breakfast is prepared by the Italian restaurant in the same building, although it is served as a buffet where guests help themselves. One thing worth mentioning is that Leipzig charges a tourist tax based on the room price. When I stayed, it was around 5% of the accommodation cost, and you pay it during check-in. I don't remember seeing this clearly mentioned when booking, so it's worth keeping in mind. Walking from Leipzig Hbf to the hotel takes around 2 hours, so public transport is the better option. Tram line 3 and bus 65 both stop very close to the hotel. I mostly used tram line 3 because it runs very frequently. The only inconvenience during my visit was that, due to street reconstruction, part of the tram route was temporarily replaced by a bus. I only needed to use the replacement bus for the last two stops before reaching the hotel. Overall, I think this hotel offers very good value for money, especially if you book outside the busiest dates. It isn't the newest or most modern hotel in Leipzig, but if you're looking for a spacious room, a quiet neighborhood, good public transport connections, and don't mind an older style, I think it's a solid choice. If I visit Leipzig again, I would happily stay here.
