Holiday Inn Resort Kissimmee by the Parks By IHG

Not the usual IHG standards. The hotel is old and needs a major revamp. The location is great, close to the major parks in Orlando, plus there is a free daily One time pickup and drop off at disney magic kingdom and universal studios. Thats where the good ends. Check-in. I was surprised they did not ask me if I was a club member. I did book through third party app Agoda. So Ok. Now to the room - the first room i received - *** - realized after a while that the fridge was not cooling. Maintenance showed up and said would have the fridge replaced. No one showed for couple hours. It was now midnight. Then realized the wash basin was clogged. Removed a clump of nasty hair and gunk from the basin, and was still clogged. Informed the night manager - ***, and he promptly said they would switch rooms. Considerate enough to give me a room on the same floor - ***. At midnight, switched rooms. Only later to find out that the AC would make this terrible loud noise everytime the thermostat would switch on, literally scaring my 6 and 3 year old. Apart from that the second bed, literally did not have any cushioning. Could literally feel and slept on the springs in the mattress. But was too tired to complain and move again and just dealt with it for the remaining 4 days and nights. We came back tired enough from the parks that we literally didnt care at this point. The 2nd morning, there was a cockroach in the bathroom. The bathrooms are also very tiny, the smallest I have ever come across at an IHG hotel. The decor is dated, the chair cushions had some dirt stains. They did not have a hot water kettle despite requesting it twice on 2 different occasions. Considering we were traveling with a 3 year old, we needed warm water. Complimentary water bottles are not daily and only provided at checkin. The dining staff - *** and crew were attentive. ***, the bar tender was also very polite and helpful. ***, the night manager did the best he could. They could not provide me with a late checkout saying the hotel was fully booked. Understandable considering there was dance competition at the hotel during the time. They also did charge me an additional $25 for early check-in. Again understandable. In all, would possibly pick a different resort/hotel as this one did not live up to the IHG promise and my expectations.

Needs some updating on outside of building - needs some attention - but good value for $$ spent. Many hotels to choose from near Disney - this will not be my 1st choice.

Reception staff is not good. Nobody is available for answering. Breakfast is not having much of vegitarian options

First off all the staff I encountered were all very delightful. But the furnishings throughout the resort looked worn and needed to be replaced. There was at least a half inch gap where the door to my room latched sort of like the gaps in public bathroom stalls someone could have “peeped” in the room from the hallway. The bathroom left a lot to be desired in this resort, it was small and felt cramped. The Late night quiet time was not enforced and there were loud groups in the main area well after 1 am that could be heard down the hallways.
