Red Roof Inn PLUS+ Vancouver Airport

I booked a 5-day, 4-night stay in July 2026 at Red Roof Inn Plus for my family of four adults. After enduring a 10-hour drive, we were looking forward to checking in, relaxing, and enjoying our vacation. Upon arrival, we were surprised to learn that guests are charged an additional $12 per day for parking, with no practical alternative parking available. The hotel looks newly renovated, and our room had a nice view, but construction was still ongoing in the lobby and exterior areas. The pool was unavailable, landscaping was unfinished, and our TV did not work throughout our stay. The most frustrating aspect of our stay, however, was the lack of housekeeping service. On our third day, we specifically requested that our room be cleaned. After spending the entire day exploring the city, we returned expecting a refreshed room, only to find that nothing had been done. The room had not been cleaned, the bathroom had not been serviced, and the garbage had not been removed. When we brought this to the attention of the onsite manager, he apologized and provided my husband with a large plastic garbage bag so we could manage our own trash. Unfortunately, the situation repeated itself the very next day. Before leaving for our scheduled activities on our fourth day, we again requested housekeeping service. When we returned that evening, we found that our room had still not been cleaned, the washroom remained untouched, and the large garbage bag was still sitting in the room full of trash. At that point, my husband spoke with the manager once more and personally brought him to our room to show the ongoing issues. The manager was polite and apologetic, but apologies alone did not resolve the problem. For the price we paid, we expected a clean and properly maintained room, along with basic services that should be standard in any hotel. For the price we paid, the service fell well below expectations. Unfortunately, this stay did not provide good value, and I would not choose this hotel again.
