Embassy Suites by Hilton Chicago Downtown River North

The hotel itself is nice, the rooms are spacious, and the breakfast quality was good. However, the breakfast timings and arrangements were not ideal, especially given the number of families and children staying at the hotel. It was extremely crowded and there were long lines every morning. The biggest issue, however, was the service and housekeeping. Room cleanliness was a major problem. Despite reminding the staff multiple times every day, our room was not cleaned for 2–3 consecutive days. We had to call guest services several times and also went down to the reception multiple times, but nothing was properly resolved. This was very disappointing because during the same trip we stayed at hotels in Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, and Las Vegas, and we never faced this issue anywhere else. In those hotels, housekeeping was done automatically while we were out, and the room was clean whenever we returned in the evening or at night. At Embassy Suites Chicago Downtown River North, however, getting basic room cleaning done became a painful process. The attitude of some staff members was also unacceptable. The front desk and housekeeping staff came across as rude and unhelpful. At one point, instead of resolving the issue, the hotel manager even threatened to evict me if I continued complaining. The housekeeping staff on the floors were also very rude and did not know how to deal with guests professionally. Overall, while the hotel has good rooms and decent breakfast, the service, housekeeping, and staff attitude were extremely poor. This badly affected our stay, and I would not recommend this hotel unless they seriously improve their guest service and room-cleaning standards.

The hotel is close to major tourist attractions, shopping and grocery stores, restaurants, and train/bus stops. It's a plus, thus the minus. Police cars constantly rolled through with sirens on, and cars playing loud music, and revving the engine. Needless to say, I didn't get a good night sleep while staying at this hotel. The housekeeping could also do a better jobs. For two days in a row, they didn't put new towels in the room after taking away the used ones. Can't complain about the free breakfast and happy hours drinks. That said, the line could be long, I skipped it since I could just get better food outside. For my next Chicago trip, I am going to find a hotel with better sound proof.

In the first room, shower walls was mouldy. Hotel changed a room for us, but the shower room is so small, too tight for normal adult. The room layout included a long corridor which is wasted so much area of the room. The hotel 4* rating on Agoda is undeserved, should be re rated 3* or less. Not recommend at all 😌
