First of all great service from all staff, good food and comfortable bed. My middle score reflects my disappointment with the room. I booked a junior suite but felt the room was no more than a large double. Putting a roll top bath in the bedroom does not make it a Junior suite. It was also cold with only a small oil heater provided. This made it an expensive room.

Visually the hotel looks great. But the mattress was rock hard and totally not what I would expect in a hotel in 2026. Every spring could be felt. Also, in room 226 the noise from the extract and refrigeration equipment was on continuously all night, making it sound like a diesel locomotive was parked outside my room. Orange juice with breakfast was from concentrate and tasted like wet cardboard. Left early as didn’t get any sleep on first night

I recently enjoyed my second stay at Maids Head. I love their junior suites and this time I had the pleasure of Shardlake. A beautiful room at the front of the hotel looking down Tombland and across to the cathedral. It had a huge comfortable bed and a gorgeous roll top bath with complimentary White Company toiletries. There was also a walk-in shower and dual sinks. I do love the bathrooms at Maids Head. They've been very well designed. Another room favourite is the excellent selection of teas, coffees and hot chocolate. It was so lovely to stay somewhere that provided camomile tea. My suite was so calming and cosy. It was a wrench to leave it. Spotlessly clean too with a daily visit from housekeeping. All staff I encountered were so welcoming and friendly. Definitely my favourite place to stay in Norwich.

A very comfortable and pleasant stay in this customer focused and charming Hotel. Lovely inclusive Breakfast, with lots of choice, cosy room and facilities. Courteous, friendly, approachable staff, who dealt with my one concern efficiently and respectfully. I look forward to returning.

We stayed in Erphingham gate room, nice and clean, large suite, roll top bath in the corner. Staff all polite and friendly, hubby would have liked a bigger TV and no ladies make/up hair styling area . Always a hotel we visit again and again

I stay often in Norwich and there are some really excellent hotel options. I stayed here because of the excellent reviews but it didn’t live up to the hype. The room was reasonable but a bit dated. But worse was the general grubbyness of the room. Net curtains where grey and stained and round the windows was positively dirty. I’ll stick to the other options in town. Disappointing…

Our room was very cold. We called reception and they said we'd need to wait 2 hours for it to warm up, which it didn't...and by then it was too late to ask someone to fix it. We also ordered room service and there were bits missing from our order. A member of staff also walked into the room before check out time while we were in the bathroom. The hotel is very nice but I found the experience to be somewhat lacking.

From the moment we arrived the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel and room was immaculately clean. We had a drink in the bar in the evening and the young man serving was very helpful when choosing a wine to drink. I liked the fact we could easily walk to shops and restaurants near by. Overall we had a wonderful stay and will definitely be returning.
