The R Apartment Munot - Old Town

We had a great stay at this apartment in Schaffhausen. The apartment is very spacious. We were a group of 5 people, and during the last few days we paid for an additional guest, so there were 6 of us in total. There was still enough space for everyone to be comfortable. Of course, with only one bathroom, we had to organize a bit and make a schedule for shower times, but that was expected with a larger group. The location is very convenient. Due to the current railway construction work, it was helpful that we could easily walk to both Schaffhausen station and Feuerthalen station. Although the apartment is located on a busy street, the windows provide good sound insulation, and we were not disturbed by the noise. The beds were comfortable, with one exception. In the room with the two separate beds, the bed near the window has a headboard that is not attached to the bed frame. It simply stands against the wall, making it impossible to lean on comfortably. We would recommend that the host look into fixing this. One of the biggest advantages of this apartment was the well-equipped kitchen. Having access to a full kitchen, dishwasher, washing machine, and dryer made our stay much more comfortable and convenient. As we were traveling as a large group, being able to prepare meals at home saved us both time and money. It was much easier and more enjoyable to have breakfast and some dinners together in the apartment rather than eating out for every meal. The washing machine and dryer were also extremely useful, especially during a longer stay. These amenities made the apartment feel much more practical and comfortable for a group of travelers Another small detail that we really appreciated was how pleasant the apartment smelled. There was a diffuser in the hallway, and everyone in our group commented on how nice and welcoming the scent was. It created a cozy atmosphere and made the apartment feel well cared for from the moment we arrived.

What we did not enjoy was the plumbing and some maintenance issues throughout the apartment. The bathroom setup was particularly problematic. The shower curtain is excessively long and constantly drags in standing water, which does not feel hygienic. It would be much better if the curtains were shortened. In addition, the curtains do not fully enclose the bathtub, leaving gaps through which water easily splashes onto the floor. As a result, you have to shower very carefully to avoid making a mess. Another issue is the drainage in the bathtub. Within about a minute of showering, water begins to pool around your feet and does not drain properly. Standing in stagnant water while showering was quite unpleasant. The kitchen faucet was also problematic. It is very stiff, making it difficult to adjust the water to a comfortable temperature, and it leaks as well. Future guests should also be aware that the floors are extremely squeaky. It does not matter how carefully you try to walk; tiptoeing often makes the squeaking even more noticeable. Some of the large wardrobe doors never fully close, which became a bit frustrating during our stay. We also experienced issues with kitchen supplies. Five guests arrived on the first day, but there were only three coffee mugs in the apartment. I immediately requested additional mugs and sent several reminders. We received 3 extra mugs only on the third day of our stay, and only 2 were delivered. By that point, I had already informed the host that a sixth guest would be arriving and had paid the additional fee, yet there still were not enough mugs for everyone. If an apartment is advertised as accommodating six guests, it should reasonably be equipped with enough dishes and utensils for six people, including at least six mugs, six plates, six bowls, and six sets of cutlery. That being said, I do appreciate that bedding and towels were eventually provided for our additional guest.
