This ain’t any old hostel. This is a men’s spa. Somehow I didn’t get that from the title. If you’re a shy American like me, expect naked Japanese men lounging . Was a fun & definitely cultural experience.

I loved it - affordable breakfast is available, it's well located in a downtown spot with easy walkable access to Hirosaki Castle Park, it is almost impeccably clean, and well equipped - plenty of recliners, bathroom and basin space, etc. The one thing I struggled with was the warmth level at night, which made it hard for me to sleep, which I suppose is just a consequence of the sauna. Others didn't seem to have that problem so just something to be aware of. Also the capsule beds are not very cushiony, also as an FYI. I managed to adapt to it by just changing my sleeping position a bit, but worth being aware of. I'd also not recommend the capsule to anyone with height or leg issues, as it did feel a bit cramped to climb down due to the vertical ladder, but this is just a minor point of caution!

It may seem a little intimidating for those that cannot speak Japanese but it is totally worth the price and the sauna facilities and rooms to lounge around in are great. You can even have breakfast/coffee and there is a designated smoking room on site too

I got a rash on my butt from here... Dont know if it was the sauna, mandatory clothes, or onsen but won't be going back. Otherwise they were nice facilities with extra security so you could lock your capsule and locker.
